I haven't touched this thing since I first registered, which is pretty lame of me. I've always had this history of beginning a workout plan and adjusting my eating habits and then after a week I fall off the wagon and go back to what I was doing before. That's probably what happened shortly after I signed up for FatSecret.

I'm back and ready to go now, however. On June 21 I signed up at Snap Fitness by my house and I've gone religiously. I also started adhering more towards the diabetic eating standards that my mom was given by her endrocronologist. I'm not diabetic - well, not yet at least - but it runs rampid on both sides of my family, and I know that the last time I had my A1C checked I was just bordering the pre-diabetic stage. I also have Polycystic Ovarian Sndrome, which only makes it more difficult for the insulin and hormones and everything to process, so following the diabetic guidelines just makes sense for me. Plus it's a healthy way to live, so I'm defintiely thinking it's a good thing.

Here's the scoop - I eat 30 grams of carbs per meal, 15 grams per snack, with 3 meals a day and 2 snacks a day. I try to do the whole eat every 3 hours kinda thing, but it's difficult with work, especially in my field because I'm out-of-the-office so regularly that sometimes I don't have the chance to eat. But I've been doing pretty well. I got this mini-fridge from my mom that plugs into the ciagarette lighter in my car. It's intended to be for road trips, but when I'm at work I use it for my snacks for the day (like veggies, fruits, etc. etc.). It's working pretty good for me as far as getting nutrituous snacks with me for work.

I've also established a nice routine at the gym which I've been adhering to religiously for the last week. Right now I'm going 5 days a week with 2 days off. I do 40-50 minutes of cardio each day (usually a combination of the exercise bike + treadmill -- someday I'll be able to last more than 3 minutes on the eliptical machine, lol) and I do 30 minutes of weight training 3 of the 5 days as well. My body has been sore, I've felt exhausted when coupling that with grad school and work, but I'm starting to feel really good. I have more energy, when I get home from work instead of sitting on the couch and filling my face I actually want to do things like garden or mow the lawn or clean up or take Henry out for a walk. It's amazing how much a difference I've noticed in my energy level alone in just a week. Dad says that it takes 21 days for a person's metabolism to shift and then the weight loss will start to kick in and it'll be a big notice. I've felt discouraged at times because, I think it's human nature, I haven't been able to visibly see any weight go away and I haven't falled into smaller pants. LOL ..... Talk about unrealistic, right? BUT ... I know that it's working. And I know that in the long run the benefits of this are going to be huge.

So .... I'll try to get on here and keep track a bit more. I've already dropped 9 pounds since I signed up, but that was a while ago and I think it was just because I was eating less food the busier I got with work and school. I'm hoping to turn that 9 pounds into 150 pounds someday in the future. :)
