Clueless nurse! Yikes! I don’t know that I could’ve forced myself to consume all that 😂. I’ve never been much for sweets...now French fries or pasta...she might not have even forced me to wolf down 😂😂😜

Yeah, so in addition to the Italian ice in the foreground, we have apple juice, ginger ale, and red Jello.

@Rosio, "clear" liquids after surgery until they know your system is working again.

YOU are still in charge despite their "titles" and "degrees" ... Just say NO. You are not required to give a reason or explanation. If they push you, you can always say "It is my personal choice and this conversation is closed." No matter what they may try to tell you or push you into ... YOU have the right [and should have the balls] to say NO.

I don't know why that do that. When I was hospitalized for a month on 2009, they kept me on a "banana bag" (aka no food at all) and had to give me insulin shots - go figure. I guess they even cater to unhealthy IV foods too.

The ginger ale should have been diet, the apple juice should not have been on there at all and the red jello is not part of a clear liquid diet, unless it’s full liquid. I see this at work all the time.

I was in the hospital for 6 days last month. My blood sugar was all over the place (40's to nearly 400) thanks to their "healthy diet" and their insulin shots. You can have a hissy fit like I did and insist on speaking with their dietician but the government's got their hands tied behind their backs and nurses speak the same language. My diabetes doctor and I have both worked hard this past year to work out the best diet & insulin for me. I don't know what to tell you other than have someone outside (trusted friend/family member) bring you meals. Hospital food will kill you.

By the way, it took me 3 days to normalize my blood sugar levels once I got out of there. My last A1C was 5.6 so I must be doing something right at home. If I was kept on their diet my next would be 15.6. I kept telling them, only I know my body and what it needs. It sure didn't need sugary high carb foods. If you don't have diabetes when you go into the hospital and want to give it a try, just eat the hospital food for a few days. Guaranteed they will give you insulin shots. It's total madness.
