fishnchips's Journal, 24 April 2008

I wasn't doing too badly on phase 1, sticking pretty close to it. My bosses took me out for lunch yesterday and I blew it big time. I don't feel guilty, but it is a shame. The fish was fine although I am sure there was bread in the stuffing and there was WHITE rice. I am not in the habbit of asking for a side of veggies instead. I said no to dessert, good me :) and they said I had to have one so I said ok. Bad me ;)The dessert was at least worth blowing my diet for sooooooooo good, I drool thinking about it. I think this will give me an incentive not to bend the rules this weekend. Still not even interested in exerciseing once I get home from work.

It was just one meal so it might not hurt your loss much. I know that people will try to get you to eat things that you have said no to. Im glad the dessert was worth it and even the South beach book says that if you don't go out often and/or you REALLY want something and nothing else will do, that it is okay to have something like that dessert once in a while. I have tried doing what my friend does...only take three bites and quit. But I find it impossible to quit after just three bites. And in most cases, the boss is always right! As for me, I know I can't just eat a few bites and I don't want to "cheat"...so when folks pressure me to eat something I don't feel bad telling them that I "can't" eat that item because I have a (fill in the blank...sugar, white flour, egg, etc...) allergy. I feel it is justified to tell this white lie because I shouldn't have to justify choosing NOT to eat something. I often had to tell my friends, that I am a "food junkie" and food is my drug of choice. If I were a heroine addict and was getting off heroine they would NOT tell me... ohhhh its okay , just have one little hit because you have been sooo good and you deserve it.. or go ahead and have it because it makes you feel good. They are "pushers" !

Ya, my hubby has carrot cake in the house now and I just asked him if he could finish it up because its' really been looking good the last few days. He said, "hun, you can have some cake without gaining all your weight back." I said, "Hey now, that's the thinking that got me into trouble to begin with, because obviously I don't like stopping at 3 bites either!" Glad you had a nice lunch, just jump right back on the SB train and ride!
