BeeLuvisi's Journal, 04 March 2019

hi! this is my first post on here. I've been struggling with my weight all my life. before having my daughter, I was quite underweight. I rapidly gained over 100 pounds while pregnant and I haven't been able to lose any of it since. I'm only 5'1" but I'm 185 pounds. it's exhausting being this out of shape and nothing I've tried works. I've struggled with the diet roller coaster due to having Colitis as well as PCOS. both illnesses have contradictory diets making it extremely difficult to find the right foods, stay healthy, and lose weight. wish me luck because this is exhausting. any tips are appreciated!

Having PCOS sucks, it was such a roadblock for me for many years. I find that it is necessary to have a few good mental strategies to deal with emotions and cravings. When I decided that I needed to be the best caretaker of my vessel, to be kind to myself, to love myself enough to make better choices, that is when I really started seeing results. Find what works for you, don't beat yourself up, log and move on, you got this.

Bee, what a combination of autoimmune problems. Are there any foods the two have in common? I know you should focus on an anti-inflammatory diet that has some elements of the Mediterranean Diet. Best of luck on your weight loss journey.

Thank you all SO much for the welcome and helpful tips! I'm happy to be turning over a new leaf but I can't help but doubt myself after so many "diet" failures.

You and I are in the same boat (except the ever being underweight part. I was average.) I gained 70lbs with my first and then I had a second baby 17 months later. This is so hard. I’m here to cheer you on! You’ve got this!

@RebekahR84 I hate saying I was "underweight." Perhaps I should say "skinny". My Dr always said I was at a healthy weight even though it was at the bottom of my bmi category. My daughter is the same way and shes 13. Either way, it makes it so hard. I look in the mirror and only see a "fat suit" surrounding who I used to be. By no means am I trying to be a "debbie-downer", just sharing a struggle. It's a tough road but we'll both get there ❤️❤️

Welcome! I have the same exact 2 issues and I agree it can be very frustrating. I’m still working on finding the right balance too but I’m sure we’ll both get there! Have you ever tried seeing a dietician?

Welcome🙋Here you will find the support we all need as well as tips, recipes and great exercise advice. Just remember one way is not always the best way for everyone. Each of us are on our own journey and not one of us are the same. Please do not fall into a cookie cutter diet, instead find what works for you then crush it. Always check with your Dr so as to keep yourself healthy. I have diverticulitis and my StepDaughter has colitis, so I understand the restrictions. Be safe, listen to the advice here but utilize only what is safe and works for you. I'm here anytime🙋

If this hasn’t already been mentioned, if possible speak with a registered dietitian who can give you advice on best foods to help you along your journey. And “ Welcome “.
