Shelly25's Journal, 10 February 2019

Hey everybody! Happy Sunday! I have so many things to say. I attended my dear friend's funeral/memorial yesterday. He passed away suddenly prior to Christmas of last year. He had many family members (14 year old daughter, mother, father, two brothers, additional family members and friends who survived him). His daughter is named Robyn. His name was Rahsaan. I was in a previous relationship with him. Very long story. Robyn's biological mother left when she was just a baby. Rahsaan made a call to a longtime dear friend/high school sweetheart, and she helped Rahsaan raise Robyn from the time she was a baby until now. She is continuing to be the guardian of Robyn. Marge and I have become very good friends through everything, and I am helping to take care of Robyn. Robyn calls me Aunt Shelly or Aunt Seashelly. I answer to both. ;)

It was a wonderful memorial yesterday. Rahsaan was cremated and his organs were donated. He passed away from two brain aneurysms. I believe that he had complications with blood pressure. We would always tell him to see a doctor. He didn't have major medical insurance for a period of time. I told him to go to a pay scale clinic to get checked out. He never followed through. He received a better paying job and was able to enroll in the work's group plan. I think that he was going to take better care of himself and to regularly see a doctor, but perhaps he didn't get around to it yet.

I have been mourning his loss as I have always loved him and always wanted the best for him. He was truly my best friend. He was one of the great loves of my life, and I will love him forever.

The ceremony was beautiful. I made sure that Robyn knew that I was completely there for her. She walked out of the ceremony in tears. She couldn't handle it initially. I followed her and told her that she didn't have to go in if she didn't want to and that I would keep her company. She mustered the strength to go back inside. She was even able to make a speech about her daddy for which I am so proud of her. I love her very much.

After the funeral ceremony, we went back to Rahsaan's childhood friend's house. He threw a party in his honor. It was absolutely wonderful! I loved meeting so many people. I bonded with the dog and the cat lol! There was so much food and beverages were plentiful (alcoholic and non-alcoholic). Calorie count was definitely not on my mind too much. I ate plenty of fruit though! ;) My new friend has this amazing sound system! He had these vintage record players from the 1980's. I was able to meet his spouse and children. They also built a large bonfire outside. They live in New Jersey, just over the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge.

Back to the gym tonight!!! I love you, Rahsaan, and I will make sure that Robyn will be okay!! I will look out for everybody, my dear sweet angel!
