alwaystheocean's Journal, 11 June 2010

i talked with my dad a bit last night. and was saying how it's been about 6 weeks i've been doing atkins, and while i've lost some it seems SO much slower than lots of people. and he said it was the same for him, and what kicked it up for him was lots of cardio - which i definitely have not been doing. so, it was good to hear it's not just me. and this is always my sticking point, so i'm not surprised. i will feel really successful when i make it under 170. weirdly i am SO unmotivated to do cardio these days - i have NO interest in it whatsoever. the pouring rain certainly hasn't helped (and i don't have a gym membership). so, this weekend is supposed to be nice, and i plan on getting out walking and hiking a bunch.

i am still struggling with work, it's almost good, but not quite. and i am little depressed about not getting that office space even though it is clearly NOT the right time. *sigh* i just feel like that would have given me something to dive head over heels into and immerse myself on making it work - because given the cost i couldn't afford to fail. and while it would probably be a bit stressful - i think i need that kick in the ass about work. i ALWAYS work better under pressure. going to have to find a different way to get that...

i guess i should go weigh in and then cook up some breakfast. happy friday, all!

Sorry it's not going fast enough for you. I browsed your food log and see where you can possibly change that might help speed things along.. I see yesterdays calories were really good but you also had 8 servings of whipping cream, 4 servings cheese and jello. I think this could be the problem. If you can, try limiting these the best you can. I know the cheese can cause stalls, if not gains in some people as well as SF products and Atkins bars. Before yesterday, I think your calories are too low. Try keeping them in the higher ranges like yesterday. If you eat too few you will put yourself into starvation mode and this can prevent you from losing.

thanks Keli, I was super lazy with preparing food this week. and ate too much crap - mostly because all i want while on my period is dark chocolate, but can't have that. ha. but yeah, i totally realize these are not ideal. i usually try to hit around 1600cal/day since i'm not doing much exercise (thought this is hard sometimes), but if you think upping it will help, i'm willing to try it :) thanks for all your advice!

There is really no way of knowing unless you try. I was so frustrated when I stopped losing and I basically told myself that I would try this one last thing or give up trying. Just know I did gain a couple pounds in the first few days but they were gone by the end of the week with others. Just be consistent. I know about how not preparing can run havoc on our WOE. And TOM brings on all sorts of cravings for me. I will usually suck on a Hershey's special dark SF candy or have a shake. You'll find what works but I already think you are doing a great job!

thank you again. i cannot tell you how much i appreciate all your advice and support. it's hard not having anyone here doing this too. my boyfriend is mostly supportive but a lot of times just doesn't seem to get it. and he gets frustrated that i have a special diet, which makes me crazy because he eats horribly! ah well!

Oh no, we are so much alike. In my house it's me, DH, my mom, and my 13 & 9 yr olds. I am the only one doing this. They try thinking about my needs the best they can and my mom is always trying to buy me SF goodies (which I accept, take to work, and give away) but no, they don't understand. DH is actually starting to jump on board with me sticking with it long term and has started going with me on walks. Just know, that while you might be the only person at the table eating Atkins fanfare, you are not alone. We are all there with you in spirit.

ATO, I started on this journey all by my lonesome, but as time passed and the men in my life started seeing how great I feel, how much energy I have, how much better my Lupus is, and how much weight I have lost, they slowly came on board. First my youngest son, then my oldes, and 3 days ago, my hubby. So there is always hope, ATO!! In the meantime, as Keli said, when you feel all alone, remember you have all of us with you in spirit, if not physically!! Keep up the good work.
