Clinic Results:

As it turns out, the PA checked me out and said that its either my appendix or a femoral hernia =X. She is more than likely saying it is a hernia because if it was my appendix - I would have other signs of loss appetite, irregular/no bowel movement, and fever - which I have none of. She recommends I see my primary physician and general surgeon for a second inspection to confirm whether or not surgery would be required. I am going to be taking it easy on leg day these next couple of weeks until I set the appointment up to see if for some miraculous way it goes away (highly unlikely).

This sucks....

Sorry to hear that. If it is a femoral hernia, what are the treatment options? Is it likely to have permanent consequences?

@ Nimm, any hernia is typically only resolved with surgery. It is a quick outpatient surgery and you are usually back to business a couple days after but I have never had surgery ever and so I am a bit freaked out. She told me to stay away from weight bearing leg exercises that contributed to my symptoms. The consequences if I continue to push it is it makes the hernia larger over time and could pose some health risks if it gets strangulated.

Man I hope it is nothing too serious. Hurry up and get in, and get it fixed whatever it is. Try not to stress over missing those workouts, your health comes first.

@cindyshine, thanks for concern and well wishes. I will get it double checked but I do want to just see, take it easy and if its still tender even with skipping the weight bearing exercises then I'm going.

Hey man, well I remember when I first got my hernia, I coulndt sleep at night. Whenever I would toss or turn, it would hurt so bad I would wake up! Anyways, I had to lay off the leg workouts and any form of cardio for over a month! It gradually got better, and now its fully recovered. I would say full recovery for me was 2-3 months. My treatment was to stretch the groin daily, try to walk as fast as I could without causing injury, then when I could jog, then sprint at the end. Also, I did alot of adductor and abductor leg exercises to rebuild any damaged muscle in the area. Hope this helps, good luck!

@mattyelle, so far so good - I have been taking it easy and am not feeling any pain when I am walking or getting up or anything. I had a golf scramble yesterday and was swinging the clubs really well with no issues so it's real odd. I just need to stay the course, take it easy on legs these next couple of weeks and then see how it goes from there. It is definitely not as tender in that area as it was a week ago. Thanks for the advice, I will take it into consideration!

My mom had the surgery and it did hurt a little. You have to stay in bed for a few days and she was forbidden to lift heavy objects for 6 months then. I hope that doesn't happen to you since you would lose all your musccles then and you look great judging by your picture. Good luck ;-)

@Snow833, thanks for the insight. That would definitely be my one fear is losing what I have worked hard for over the last few years.
