Shaking out of that cozy, protected place!!

Just saw a photo posted online of me attending some event a few weeks back. And while in my head, I feel like I'm looking better having lost almost 14 pounds or so since I started the new plan in February, looking at that picture made me go, "man! I look fat!". I think I've been deluding myself these past few weeks into thinking I've actually become noticeably thin..well, the clothes do fit somewhat better, but I can't forget that I still have ways to go. And I need to toughen up if I want to get there! Lately I've been laxing on my regimen, and allowing myself too many indulgences (not waking up early enough, not working out regularly, or hard enough, eating a little less vigilantly etc.). I need to tighten up my act and get serious...all this dawdling will not get me progressing, and then worse, I'll lose heart and give up when I don't see enough progress!!

So here're three mini-challenges for myself:
1)No more obsessing or even glancing at the scale until the official weigh-in day,
2) Not to worry about the scale, but put in good effort to do the best I can everyday on the food and activity-front,
3) Wake up at 6 am, and workout!! I've been harping on this same tune for a while now...enough BS-ing!! Starting tomorrow am, this has to become strictly implemented!!!!!!

Don't be so hard on yourself. We are our own worst critics but we need to stop belittling our progress. We all do it. It may take a few more pounds before you really notice a difference but that doesn't discount the wonderful work you've done already. You wouldn't be just a few pounds off from really seeing a difference if you hadn't first lost those 14 lbs. With my larger amount to lose, I had to lose over 20 lbs and be exercising everyday for months before I saw any concrete evidence in the mirror. Your refocusing and making mini-challenges for yourself is a great way to get back on the fast track to looking and feeling good. Don't give yourself the option of not exercising. Make it as mandatory as brushing your teeth and getting dressed in the morning. Good plan to quit the daily weighing when you know it has become an obsession. Just hang in there. You can do this. And you will see results.

Have you taken your measurments? If you're building muscle, you won't see a big difference on the scale but will in inches. I'm with you on working out in the morning, let's do it!

You're new weigh-in rule is great! I don't know if I could give it up for a week (but don't worry, I won't start doing it all day long, because I really don't want to know!) I truly love weighing in - it gets me out of bed in the morning! But I agree it would be good for you to take a break, because it gets you down. You asked about pre-cutting veggies -- I need to do it, because I have no time/patience in the heat of the moment to wash, chop, cook, etc. at breakfast, lunch, or dinner -- I need my food the second I'm hungry, so I set up a 'salad bar' in the fridge but I use up the stuff quickly eating the same veggies at breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, and dinner -- so it's off to the store every few days. Whew! As usual, I agree with Evelyn about you being too hard on yourself. We think you are doing great :D
