Watched a very interesting documentary last night, Forks over Knives. It got my husband and I really talking about giving our food choices an overhaul. For about 3 months 2 1/2 years ago I went to a strictly vegetarian diet with out the support of my meat loving hubby. He claimed he only knew how to cook meat and continued to prepare these meals when it was his turn to cook and I eventually gave up on my idea. So it was very interesting last night to have this discussion after we watched the documentary, he is now convinced as well that going to a vegetable and whole food diet would be the healthiest thing for us to do. So we agreed to start out slow and through out the week prepare mostly vege meals but once a week eat a meat based meal until our freezer is empty and then switch over to only veges, sounds like a plan.

While you are looking at doing that I would also read 'Wheat Belly' it is worth the read for what you are talking about doing.

Michael Pollan’s books are also very good. When my cousin saw I was going high protein he sent me three books that he said changed his life and he's military lol. (The Omnivoress Dilemma, In Defense Of Food and Food Rules) Although I have found that my body just doesn't do well without protein after trying a mainly veg diet, it was quiet informative and I have added many foods back in based on the reading. Might want to check them out too.
