Kitten picture for all my cat-loving buddies. This was our first attempt at breeding Himalayans. They are the result of a joint effort with Catz Boutique (breeder of Mr. Jinx from Meet the Fockers). The mom cat is a lliac lynx point, and we hoped to produce a few lynx points and keep one of the kittens. What could be more fun than being a breeder and having a houseful of kittens?!?
NOTE:
NEVER name the kittens if you plan to sell them, and we followed that rule to the letter. We prepared the necessary paperwork and registered the litter. In fact, we weighed the advantage of taking deposits before they were ready to go to their forever homes.
We were the proud "parents" of 1 cream lynx point, 1 flame lynx point, 1 tortie, 1 seal point, and 1 blue-cream lynx point. It was fun having the two girls and three boys even if they had
NO NAMES!
The first to leave the nest was a beautiful boy (the flame lynx point). The family had a blue point who was on his last breath and were so heartbroken over their impending loss, we ended up just giving them the kitten. What we didn't anticipate was the mourning experienced by the remaining four kittens. They remained eerily quiet for days.
Days passed, and we finally decided to keep the cream lynx point. Our
NO NAME babies grew cuter by the day, and it was a good thing we selected which kitten to keep early on.
That was six years ago.
Twisty thoughts:Too bad watching what we eat isn't like
NO NAME kittens and emotional immunity, huh? Wouldn't it be great if you simply
DON'T NAME what you REALLY eat in the food diary and you'd be immune to the calories sitting in your tummy?
P.S.My cream lynx point is sitting here on my desk as I'm typing my journal entry. I'm sure by the time I get out the camera to share her picture with you, she'll be off playing with her
other three NO NAME siblings.
It's a good thing I'm better with my Food Diary entries than I am at being a breeder. It's an even better thing we decided not to have more
NO NAME kittens... or we'd definitely be the crazy cat people who live down the street.
