Diet soda?
Obviously, I am not happy with my weigh in this morning. After all the walking we did yesterday I was expecting a loss! The only thing I did differently was to gulp a huge Diet Dew at the mall yesterday. I haven't had a diet soda in months and seldom use artificial sweeteners.
Has anyone else experienced weight gain from diet soda?

When you do more exercise than your body is used to (like tons of walking), your muscles retain water to help them heal. It can show on the scale as a temporary gain, no loss or smaller loss than usual. It will go away in a couple of days. We don't always see the results from what we do one day for days afterwards. That's why consistency is so key with weight loss. It's what we do over a period of time that counts, not one meal or one day. Google "why the scale lies" for insight in to water weight.

Hey Buffy also can't advise on the soda as I also don't drink it...but will agree with Suzi....I usually see a gain after lots of exercise, especially after swimmming....

Tracy - Very interesting. Guess I need to start paying attention to my exercise levels at weigh in times! And, hope you are feeling back to normal today.

Buffy you know what I think fighting off the urge to hangover eat has made me feel better - I think when I still felt rubbish on day two...it was probably from the overload of food!! Did you join the new Challenge - if you have I don't think we are in the same team :(

Tracy - Sorry, but Challenges like that one only discourage me. But it was nice to know you'd want me on your team. Makes me feel special!

Hey Buff.... the answer to your question is 'YES'! I stopped drinking diet sodas for this very reason. I think some of us are more inclined to gain cause of sensitivity to the sweetener and also the chemicals in the drink. Nasty stuff, isn't it? Have a great day, my friend! Hugs!

Well, whatever the cause, water or soda I hope it is gone soon...good riddance to it I say!

Buffy - I don't think it has ever caused me a gain BUT it does mess with my blood sugars. I have to stay away from it - although I do LOVE me diet coke :)

Mom - I am suspecting the Diet Dew since my ankles were a little puffy this morning. Am sitting here sipping my lemon water.

GG - I have another weigh in on Friday. It had better be gone by then!

Gigi - I used to be a Diet Coke addict - gave it up cold turkey and have never looked back.

I'm still a DC addict. I'm with Suzi on the reason for the gain to be your sore muscles retaining a bit of water. You'll see your drop on Friday!
