Metabolism seems to have slowed down..again!!

Woke up this morning to note that weight seems to have been around the same point as yesterday (and more or less, for the last few days as well). Granted, I had a couple of high-points days two days ago, but then the last three days I have tried to stay under my points (except for the late-night snack last night that slightly elevated my points). Today was perfect--points and activity-wise. And yet, not only has the weight stablized, but I feel somewhat bloated. I looked at my foods from the last two days and don't notice anything particularly high in sodium, and it can't be TOMT either (that was last week), so I am a little confused as to what this second round of plateau is about. I have been drinking quite a bit of water over the last two days. I have stayed away from processed/frozen foods, and have been cooking over the last few days. So don't know what else I can do...

Well, I did some weights today, and will try and do more weights tomorrow, and continue drinking more water...I need to up the ante on the cardio, so will have to do that tomorrow. I hope these solutions will help break the plateau, reduce the bloatedness, and get me going on the downward slope (weight-wise, of course!).

Oh! I hope it's not the protein-mix I've been taking on and off over the last couple of days...I had checked to see it's no more than 2 points, and is not supposed to add to the weight, and it does seem to help prevent post-workout cramps, but I'll have to see if I need to stop taking it if I don't see a change in weight over the next couple of days.

Other than that, it was kinda uneventful day...my mood was a little down as I'm weighed down by the zillions of things I have to do at home and at work, and I feel things are not in place. My brain feels cluttered! A free-floating anxiety...But didn't let that affect my eating, drinking, and came home and right away went to the gym, cooked for an hour, and ate a hearty stir fry (it was actually good, even if I say so myself :)!

Well, I'm gonna take some time tonight and get my organizer organized, and hopefully that'll help me feel more in control and less stressed about everything. I also want to make this eating, cooking, working out a pretty automatic process, so I don't have to feel stressed about it on top of everything else!

Ok, I hope all my buddies here are doing well..looks like many are! Keep up the good work...it inspires me and pleases me to see others doing well, even if I'm somewhat stalled...

Ten pounds in two months is amazing. Your workouts and gourmet cooking sound awesome! You are doing such a good job of balancing work and healty eating and exercising now. If only there was a magic pill to give you patience and optimism ;) I know, eaiser said than done :) I think you are doing great. Hang in there! This link is plagerized from a member named nutmegger, but it is a great article on how to keep the number in perspective: http://www.primusweb.com/fitnesspartner/library/weight/scale.htm

it's hilarious to see my online friends know me and my neuroses as well as my other friends! :)Yes, massiverally, patience and optimism are not my strongest suits :) I need to remind myself that I'm still learning and perfecting these new habits--and it's not just about seeing results.

ok, now I'm really being neurotic ! :)But, I'm gonna play devil's advocate to my own above response to my original question! And thus, I'm wondering, 10 pounds in TWO months is not really sufficient--not nearly enough. If I were on a show like "The biggest loser", I'd probably get kicked off for not losing enough weight!! To some extent, it is indeed still about numbers and consistent results--how else would we know we're doing the right things? In my case, since my progress is so slow, and marked by many an upward swing, I need to get tougher and more disciplined in what I am doing, and start to make st least some sacrifices....or need to do something different. While "slow and steady can win the race", why not still aim for "relatively faster and steadier"?

It sounds like you are doing all the right things so the weight should come off even if it isn't as quickly as you would like. The only suggestion I would have would be to try to up your points for a day or two and then go back to your lower points. Sometimes you need to eat more to lose. Sounds weird but it has been proven over and over again by so many people on here. Also, work on dealing with your stress better (yoga, meditation, whatever) because it is linked to higher cortisol levels which in turn cause weight gain. Otherwise, keep up the great workout effort and healthy eating. You will succeed.

I can only reiterate what Evelyn says. It sounds like you're doing everything you should be doing, so just keep on doing it and you WILL see results! 10 pounds in 2 months is fantastic - don't belittle that achievement!! I do understand your frustration, but you are on the right track, so try not to stress about everything! Leanne :)
