Today I was a little saddened when I stepped onto the scale and found that with my efforts I had lost 0.5 lbs.
I just now realized I've started my period, and will defenitely be blamming that for something.
But I will continue to eat properly and exercise today.

Well, I can gain 5 lbs around that time of the month, so I never use the words "sad" and "lost" in the same sentence. You are doing great and remember any loss is a good loss. Just stay with it!

I've read that it isn't good to start any diet the week before your period. It takes a few days for your body to get into ketosis and then you'll really be burning fat. Just give it some time. You might consider only weighing in once a week so you can see true progress over time.
