I have a free app on my phone called SkyView Lite and when u hold ur device up to the sky day or night it shows what planets, stars, satellites and constellations as well as their names, are in line with ur phone or tablets. When u zero in on a planet it is enlarged. It’s fascinating and beautiful. Ain’t nuthin like the real thing though! Oh and it has background music too!

@Bill - my hubby's got a similar app (might be the same one, can't remember what it's called) on his Windows phone, he used it nearly every day. :D Sadly my phone can't... either the compass, or whatever else it was it needed, isn't present in my phone. :(
