I prefer to exercise alone, it allows me to concentrate fully on what I plan to accomplish for the next hour. I also like this tid-bit of motivation I once read, "Would you prefer to exercise 1/2 hour a day, or be dead 24 hours a day." Works for me. Cheers, hope you find what works.

lol adamevegod1 But seriously, focus on the food first til you get that right, then add exercise, because if you want to maintain when you get to goal, you need to have strength training and cardio both. But focus on the food first.

I enjoy walking while listing to audio books on my headphones. This is exercise because I do it for 45 minutes at a time. 'Mentally' I find it very pleasurable. Good luck!

I don't like going to the gym period, so I work out at home. there are plenty of things you can do at home from routines on the tv to a little weight training. If you need someone to help you stay motivated, I can understand that. but I prefer to do my struggling alone too.

I love this post. Made me laugh. I disdain exercise as well. I do like walking though as it gives me a chance to think, look at stuff, and people watch.

I know exactly what you are saying. I live near ATL and there was a recent event with an elderly person riding her bike that got mugged and killed so yeah wouldn't do it alone in a big city or anywhere. I will even blame it on medical that I don't exercise mainly because I don't want to go alone. I cannot do some just because of a knee injury that is truth, but I could do a lot more than what I do which is very little unless someone is with me. I hope you find someone near you to join up.

When I started this 6 years ago I was, in my opinion, too big to exercise without hurting myself. I'm down 131 and autophagy can only do so much. I am simply trying to do more in a day.... yesterday I pulled a back muscle and have no clue how, it was only a little sore yesterday today zapping the stuffing out of it and ice on and off. So I figure if I start with waking since my knees are no longer threatening to strike... Looking for a walking buddy.

My sentiments exactly! But I have to start moving again. I also prefer exercising alone: swimming laps, recumbent bike, light weights. And I read in your profile that you "found Gomez" a few months ago. I hope that's going well! I found my True Love in June 2008, married since May 2013, life is a waltz with him -- easy!

Just a suggestion - I live in San Antonio and the Parks & Rec Department offers all kinds of exercise classes in the parks - that includes walking groups - you may want to check out your city to see if they offer anything like that - I agree that unfortunately people can't be alone in the parks anymore - especially women - how sad of a statement is that for our country

I'm a big fan of water excersise and there is usually a big group in attendance. the most fun excersising I've had and the social interaction is a bonus. however I have actually sweated in the water (testament to a vigorous workout) so you'd need to compromise a bit and maybe sweat a little😌

Each helps me stay more disciplined with the other. I don't want to hold one back by failing at the other. Sometimes I fail anyway, but I would fail more (just quit, probably) if I tried one without the other. But if you feel like your job covers it, Great! My job is pretty sedentary 90% of the time.
