Day 4 of a planned 5 day fast

When I look in the mirror I feel I look thin. Except for my belly :) However, my 'love handles' are mostly gone, or 'gone enough' that all I notice is my belly. The scale has been barely moving but fat is disappearing from my body.

I'm not sure I want to go below 171, so the fact I am having such a hard time getting there (I have been 'stuck' at 180 for a month) is not upsetting me much. With clothes on I do not think I look overweight (even though my BMI says that I AM, and that I need to be 164 to be 'normal BMI').

My new 'go to' drink is: "Quest Vanilla Milkshake Protein Powder with Land O'Lakes Heavy Whipping Cream and water (300 calories - 3 carbs)". It gives me the 'sugar' hit that my brain desires, briefly makes me feel 'full' (this is NOT a good thing for me mentally because it triggers a compulsion to 'maintain the fullness'), then slowly goes away within an hour. So far I have it in the morning with coffee, and in the evening as a vanilla shake.

So, I am taking in 600+ calories a day in liquid on this 'fast'. I am NOT starving :) But, my carbs are <10 carbs a day. I fast to 'control my insulin' (see Dr. Fung: "The Obesity Code: Unlocking the Secrets of Weight Loss" - https://amzn.to/2sAbluO) so this helps me meet my goals.

I continue to take Hi-Lyte Electrolyte Concentrate twice a day and I have not had any lethargy, dizziness, or nausea.
178.0 lb Lost so far: 29.0 lb.    Still to go: 14.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

@jenjabba - I have the calipers and have measured my actual body fat, so that ad the mirror show me that fat is coming off. At this point I want to hit the 'normal BMI' just to say I did it once :) I am never hungry on a fast because I always start in the morning, and if I don't have falling blood sugar I never experience true hunger. However, at times I-want-to-eat :) But that is a desire to eat out of boredom or anxiety. As far as fasting, I plan to continue to fast a few days every week. My body 'feels' better on days where I am fasting.

Thanks for talking about wanting to eat out of boredom instead of hunger. That is something I am diligently working on whenever I have the urge to eat. I ask myself am, "I hungry? Am I bored? or am I feeling another emotion that I'd like to change? Since keeping my carbs low, I found that more often than not, hunger is not what drives me.

I don't see resistance training in your exercise fields. You can expect to lose more lean body mass than you probably want leaving you with a skinny fat look. I suggest resistance training and living more by the mirror. I personally completely disregard BMI.

@Diablo360x - I do 1/2 hour of weights and crunches and pushups 3-4 a week. This is very minimal I know. But I plan to completely adopt a new weight and full body workout once I hit this 'weight goal'. After that, yes I will drop the BMI thing.

@Joelmel - After I fasted for 11 days I came to the conclusion that "If I have fat on my body I do not need to eat". This was a huge change in belief for me. So every time I am 'actually hungry' I realize that it is a hormone in my body, triggered by falling blood sugar that is the definition of 'real hunger' (If I wake up and do not eat, I am never hungry). Everything else is 'mental hunger'. I really don't want to eat when I have 'mental hunger'. This is how I became obese for my entire adult life.

So I just got home from work, check my glucose level 73!(Yay!). I get on the scale. I am 176lbs. This would be an all time low (But, I only record morning weight). I will have nothing but a cup of tea tonight. I swear I will wake up 1 pound heavier :( Let's see what happens...
