Eringiffin's Journal, 31 July 2012

Working from home again today. I have an infection and it's contagious so I am trying to limit my exposure to other people. I can't tell if it's the infection or the meds that are wiping me out but I am so tired! I slept for almost 10 hours last night even! Part of it has to do with the fact that I didn't get any sleep the night before last. Yesterday I went to the urgent care and got the antibiotics and it seems to be working.

On top of that, TOM has come for a visit and I am craving all sorts of bad things. I'm trying to make sure I stay on track because tomorrow is the weigh in at the dr. office. I only drank about 60% of my water goal yesterday so I need to get better on that today, too.

The hubby made dinner last night and it was delicious! Marinated beef kabobs and broccoli. I was too wiped out to weigh it but I guess it was 10 oz. of very lean beef.

I met an incredible woman on Sunday and she says getting the proper amount of sleep is key to losing and maintaining weight loss. So I am passing on that tip.

Have a great day, FS buddies!

Its probable a combination of the infection and antibiotics, hope you feel better soon. There was a post in the forum this morning on weight loss and sleep. According to the study if you don't get enough sleep you lose more muscle, with sufficient sleep you lose more fat. Interesting stuff.

Take care Erin and you can get back on track when you are feeling better. I have also heard about having at least 7 hours sleep a night - but not always possible.

I haven't slept all night in 7 years, since pre menopause and the dreaded hot flashes and night sweats started. I can't even remember what it feels like to stay asleep all night. For a long time I thought I would go crazy. Now I'm used to it sorry to say. I have also heard that enough sleep helps you live longer, burn fat etc. Sounds great but sometimes easier said than done. Feel better soon Erin.

Yeah, I have a few tricks to help me fall asleep but they don't always work. First is to get in some exercise in the day. That helps my body to get tired (even if my mind is on high alert). Then there is alcohol, just one glass of red wine will usually knock me out but I am not supposed to have alcohol while on this medication I am taking, so that one is out. Sometimes what will work is if I lay in bed and think of all the things I would do if I won the lottery or what I would wear and do once I get to my goal weight. It gets my mind off of the stresses of work, family, etc. and is fun.
