Bren - that makes two of us. I'm surprised you don't have plenty as well. BTW - we are headed to the Adirondacks - not going anywhere near NYC. I wouldn't mind it but DH would throw a fit!

We have peppers and tomatoes growing but the weather has been so bizarre they aren't ripe yet. First it isn't warm enough then it is so hot they burn. Hmmm.

I have a ton of tomato plants and am just starting to get a few ripe tomatoes but they are small. I just hope that the rest of my garden took off like the tomatoes. My beans are a lost cause. Have a great vacation.

It's a weird year for fruit and veg and weather - I gave up on my veg when we had a hosepipe ban, then we had torrential rain for a month....one of my apple trees has four apples the other none - last year I had over 50 on each!! Enjoy your trip Buffy :)

I'd take the tomatoes too, as ours are on their very last legs....we'll be lucky to get 1 or 2 left. Have a fun time heading to the mountains.

I have lots of tomatoes, they are just being stubborn about ripening! The plants are so heavy, they are pulling the cages out of the ground. Had to wire the cages to the fence and each other to keep them upright! Hope you have a great time in the Adirondacks! Sounds like my kind of vacation!

Karen - sorry you aren't having any luck with your garden - that has got to be frustrating for you! Hope your weather stabilizes shortly.

Davidsmom - I find that once the first few start ripening the rest fall into line fast. Get ready!

Tracy - I didn't realize you were having bad weather on your side of the pond as well. Maybe next year will be a good year for apples. We had 2 apples. One disappeared and a squirrel ate the other.

Sandy - I really wish you'd take a basket or two. But you were eating tomatoes while I was still planting mine.

Stef - I appreciate that. And I can just picture the reinforcements on the tomato plants! I finally got DH to build me 6' high tomato pyramids. I really need to cut back on that chicken manure!

Tracy - send your cats out to guard them - or are they like my cats and are afraid of squirrels?

I think one out of my four cats should do a good job...if the squirrel legs that I found one morning on my dining room floor are anything to go by!!

DW and DD will be operating the canning factory tomorrow! Canned tomatoes and salsa - Salute! My whole family is crazy about tomatoes; I like them here and there - like on BLT's, but I LUV salsa. Me too, too bad I'm not closer; I would take a few off your hands. Sometimes we have a bumper crop of green beans, and we tell folks to come over and get all they want, but they want us to pick them, clean them and then deliver them to them. I'll just skip all those steps, and EAT them for them too. :)
