Helpful Atkins board member showed me link on how to eat enough veges. Printed it out and will be reading today. Had some challenges this weekend. Had usual Atkins breakfast Saturday and met some friends for lunch. They all had fried catfish and beer, I had a great shrimp coctail with water. The shrimp coctail came in a mug, like a frosted beer glass, and was in some mixture of minimal coctail sauce, avocado, chopped jalapeno peppers and some clear liquid that I found out only after eating was 7-up!! Not diet, I'm sure. I was a little disappointed in myself for not asking before ordering but I figured a shrimp coctail was some shrimp in a glass or plate with the coctail sauce in the middle. I knew the coctail sauce would have sugar but I thought I could just do minimal coctail sauce. When it came already pre-mixed and in a big mug, I figured--minimal coctail sauce, minimal sugar. I'm figuring it was maybe 1/3 cup 7-up at the most. I'm going to make this at home but use diet 7-up someday.

Saturday night went to our monthly poker outing. Everyone always brings goodies to eat. We took smoked sausage log rolls, guacamole and pork skins (all Atkins Friendly). Someone brought deviled eggs which I ate, cream cheese covered in jalapeno jelly (which I didn't eat because of sugar in the jelly), chicken wings cooked only with a spice rub (which I did eat). There were tortilla roll ups (which I love but didn't eat because of the tortilla) and peach jello. I asked the person who brought the peach jello if it was sugar-free and she said she used two packs of sugar free and one pack of regular. I figured it wouldn't have too much sugar in just one little piece. It tasted really good and a little different so after eating a small square of it, I asked what else was in it--and it was peach schnapps. Geez...messed up again.

Figured I had about 1/3 cup regular 7 up and just a very small portion of peach schnapps without intending to.

Sunday had 3 pcs of bacon and MIM for breakfast and an Atkins bar for lunch--I know it's not supposed to be a meal replacement but we were moving furniture, cleaning carpets, etc and just didn't make time. For dinner had 4 oz grill talapia with mixed veges (onion, tomato, zuchinni, squash, mushrooms and green beans) with a modified MIM (used cheese and garlic powder instead of cinnamon).

Now off to put in my food consumption for the weekend. Sticking to Atkins may be a little tricky but eating ENOUGH food is, too.

Wow, everything you talk about sounds so yummy. I love the shrimp cocktail. I never heard of doing it like that. At least you found out where the slip ups were and they were not intentional. Keep up the good work. It is hard to remember to ask what is in everything, especially when you think you ordering something simple.
