It was a year ago today that I started back down the path toward recapturing my health and wellbeing. One year of tracking everything I ate (good and bad). One year of holding myself accountable, regardless of my daily behaviors, for how I felt each and every day. One year of paying attention and not making excuses.
I lost 59.8 pounds. I am healthier. I feel better. I can do things I haven't dreamed of in years. I am contemplating running in a 5K over the summer. I know that I can go on a 5 mile hike at altitude and not have to stop constantly to catch my breath. I can tie my shoes without my face turning red. I can cross my legs.
Today, I may have had my greatest triumph in the past year. Don't worry, I have celebrated every gain in mobility I have achieved; but today, I put a dress back on the rack because it was too big. I thought I was grabbing the correct size, but after trying it on, I realized I could go a size smaller. I am smiling from ear to ear!
My first year may be complete, but I have no intention of stopping here. I will continue. I will work out 5-6 times per week. I will continue to log my food. I will pay attention to what am I eating and strive to eat what is best for me. I will stay the course that has brought me here and I look forward to the coming year and what it will bring. Onward and downward!
