It's finally the BIG day! The day where The Black Peanut has their 4th concert! This will be in a local setting, a teacher's christmas party at the local school. Both our singer and our drummer are teachers, and work there - and this of course means that the crowd is already pleased before we even start playing. It's an easy gig, but no less demanding, and it will be TONS of fun! I'm really looking forward to it (but I think we've already established that).
I tried out my concert outfit yesterday, the whole thing - including bass guitar - to see that it looks alright, and I really like what I saw. Yes, Wife took a picture. No, I can't publish yet. I have friends who lurk on this journal, and nothing is to be revealed until the show. Not that it's top secret or anything, I just think this is how it should be.
I gained back some weight today, a whopping 700 grams, but that's okay. I am sure it's just fluctuations and they'll come down again. I hope it's gone by tomorrow - I really want to record a new all time low before Indulgence day. That would make me happy. Today I need to lose 800 grams to reach a new low. I've done it before - I hope I can do it again today. We'll see. If not, it's okay. I already had a new low yesterday - that's good enough. As long as I see progress, I'm happy.
Food choices today has to be somewhat modified. I know we're joining the party for dinner tonight - but I have no idea what the menu is. I know it's buffet style, so that makes it easy to choose, but I am always nervous to see what is actually there.
To compensate, I have had a super light, but fulfilling breakfast, and I will only have steamed vegetables for lunch. That should give me well over 1000 calories for dinner, and surely enough that I can have a proper meal no matter what. I just hate to not know what's coming.
So, this morning I woke up early again. Again eager to get up and get going, get the exercise done and get ready. It's all accomplished by now. No bass playing this morning though - I want a tiny bit of distance to it for tonight, that's the way it works best for me. So once Lodger has woken up and come out of her room, I will go get my flight case and the rest of my gear and pack it all up.
I work until 1:30 today, then walk home and get my stuff, and then our drummer will pick me up to go to the school where we're playing. They're already setting up gear at the point I think, but I of course need to bring my stuff, and I am also the sound guy, so they can't get TOO far without me there. :) It's a fun task, making live sound. It's a challenge, but it's so good when you accomplish something worth people's ears.
(taking a short break - Lodger is awake, and I'm gonna go pack my gear)
There. Done. All that is now left is my laptop charging, so it has full battery for recording tonight's show. I record A LOT with us. Every single rehearsal is recorded for later evaluation, and to find those great versions of our songs to use for home practice throughout the week. It's a great way of doing it, and fairly easy.
Of course I will be recording tonight's concert. It's always fun to have our live things. They will be fun to look back on later - and realizing how much better we get through time. I listened to our concert from back in May the other day, and we are now WAY better than that. It's a good feeling.
Anyways, I'm hoping to go to work soon, so I better stop journaling for now. Keep those eyes peeled for a special journal tomorrow, Sunday or Monday. You know I don't do a whole lot of writing through the weekend, but if I get the photos (not sure if they'll be taken with my camera or someone else's) and if I have sounds files ready, I will make a little post about it all. It'll be fun. I am so stoked to go do this tonight.
Today I am thankful that - I get to go play music live! (duh!) - That going through my gear made me smile big! I really like my setup, and it's so awesome to play. - A short day at work. No interview. Just administrative stuff. Perfect Friday. - The hopes of a new low tomorrow morning (crossing my fingers). - A schedule free weekend coming up. We'll just go with the flow and see where it takes us.
Have fun my friends! I know I will! Life is good!
EDIT: I just realized that I didn't write anything about the GYM today. I won't have time to go, but I'll assume that tonight's gonna be a workout in itself.
