Windy Day's Journal, 21 June 2024

Hey, It's Friday! And a pretty morning here. Got in my little 20 min WO and having a coffee. Going to get in extra exercise the next few days as I have been so slack this week. Also have to get my fiber intake back up. Always takes a bit of effort to get enough of that in.

Still having reactions to different things. Twice now when after selecting strawberries at the grocery store. (weird I know) So Im suspecting something they spray them with? And also a dish detergent I use. Who knows. All I know is I had BETTER not become allergic to hair dye!!! Need to get that appt set up with the allergist going I guess. Today.

Ive got rain/storms in the forecast starting Sunday and for much of the week so I am hoping I can get out there and soak up enough fresh air and sunshine to last me thru the gray days, lol.

Hope everyone has had a good week and has a great weekend. Enjoy those moments. xo

I need to work both on exercise and diet. I am usually good on fiber. Always fighting too many carbs and calories and not enough protein. We are mostly getting HOT and MUGGY. Very little rain now.

Sadly strawberries are a not uncommon allergy trigger as is hair dye.

Look up "Silver Sisters" on Instagram. There are many, many accounts of women that have given up the dye & gone natural. They are all ages....40's & older and look beautiful. I quit coloring my hair August 2023 & I'm loving my natural color! Former brunette...went blond....now silver 😁

Hot and muggy here too Morticia, but rain in the forecast. Sigh. Same here, too many good things, LOL

Kenna, its interesting in that twice in the grocery store my hands started itching intensely after handling the boxes of strawberries, but I am able to wash them at home and eat them and no reaction... so odd. So far no reaction to hair dye, but have had reactions to dish soap and a new shampoo, and also twice severe when mowing. My Dr had faxed the allergy practice to set me up an appt but they never followed thru. Called my Dr today as he asked me to if they didnt get hold of me and he has sent in another fax request. For insurance reasons specialist appts have to go thru primary care physician. Hoping they dont drop the ball again.

Sherry, you hair looks so beautiful. Im natural brunette also, but only maybe 15% gray at the roots/hairline so it would be awhile before I could go silver, what a step. I know the chemicals are crap for us, but so far so good I havent had a reaction to dye. I sure hope I dont. I see women with the beautiful silver hair tinted palest lavender and I think how lovely and graceful. One day I am sure I will. Aging gracefully is a priority. I will look up Silver Sisters!

I laugh, but I am with you on being glad I’m not allergic to hair dye! My hair is naturally black. When I first started going gray, my nephews said it gave him the “Rogue of X-Men” vibe (only towards the front on one side). Now it streaks both sides leaving the middle black…and giving off skunk vibe to me. 😆

I knew you got me kmtru! It's hard when you have dark hair and the grays are just starting to take over! Some women do the intentional side streak, so think of it as trendy, haha! It's funny bc Ive been dyeing my hair forever and Ive never once done a patch test. I have 1/2" roots right now and I cant stand it. You know what that means Lolol (please Lord dont let me have developed an allergy to dye, not dye..)

Windy, in my battle to beat the grey back in my mid 40's, I slowly transitioned to blond. I started with a few highlights that eventually took over. I didn't like the way the all over dark color was looking...I felt it was too harsh. When I decided last year to go natural I had my stylist do one last procedure....silver baby lights to help blend with the new growth. I'm at least another year from it fully growing out....maybe more. Maybe I'll be done in time for my 70th next year 😊 Looking at some of the grow outs on Instagram, I love the dark ends with silver coming in. Almost makes me wish I still had my natural dark hair.

Sherry, youre not almost 70?! Id have never believed it, you look so great! I will be 62 next week, and Ive been fortunate with the grays this long! I've been slowly transitioning hairstyles and colors. Ive been going more auburn rather than my dark brunette. Highlights may be the next step for me too. I came across your photo of yourself with your sisters the other day and remember thinking how youthful you look, all of you. Mine is kind of brunette/auburn ombre at the moment, lol. I rather liked it. Hmm maybe late summer highlights... :D

A year & 3 months away 😊 Auburn can be a pretty shade...not so dark against the complexion. I used to do auburn & almost purple highlights on my darker hair. I think my stylist called them cherry cola.

That's awesome, you have kept fit and healthy. That's my aim. Sherry, Ive seen those colors done and they are super pretty. Cherry cola sounds right. I may do it
