I see a lot of people on here having remorse because they get stressed, or are busy so they grab 'whatever' or stop somewhere for comfort food.

I always keep egg whites (Bob Evan's from the grocery store) in the fridge. In a pinch I can make a quick omelet either with just a little cheese and salsa (something I also always have on hand). I also often throw in some random veg or leftovers.

Does anyone else have some healthy staples on hand for a quick grab and go they would like to share? IMHO the more we have, the better! Thanks for all of your support!

I like to make wraps out of low carb tortillas, grilled chicken, and things like cheese, spinach/lettuce, mustard or sugar free BBQ sauce, etc.

A square of 90% or up dark chocolate, fage 0 cup, fruit w no added sugar cup and a tsp - 2 tsp honey. Beef jerky, pepperoni w a cheese slice, Carmel rice cakes, the mini ones. Tbs honey w green tea usually does it for me. 1C Honey Nut Cheerios just in case.

misty good tips. Luckily I'm not a chocolate person, tho I hear dark chocolate is good for you. I had forgotten about rice cakes, they used to be a staple for me too! Cheerios are awesome!

Morticia, I need to find some low carb tortillas, I keep looking but I don't know if we have them in the Northeast. Grilled chicken is a must have! I often pick up a rotisserie chicken when I'm at the grocery store in a pinch.

Every week I make a HUGE salad and keep it in the fridge. I include all my favorite salad ingredients. I use Paul Newman’s Sesame Ginger dressing which is only 35 calories for 2 tablespoons. Put 4 tablespoons on that bad boy and I’ve got a quick meal when I’m starving like a wild child. I usually like to cook up some chicken breasts or boneless pork chops to slice up and sprinkle on my salad. Very satisfying and quick. The hard part is the day I make the salad. Takes 1/2 hour to prepare but it lasts in the fridge for several days.

I'm a diet and medication controlled diabetic. I take in 30g of carbs per day. An egg white wrap is essential for me. On the market, there is Egg Life Wraps, made of egg whites, xanthum gum, and preservatives. Pkg of 6/$5.50. They are not my choice for a few reasons. I prefer to make my own. The great thing about making my own is that they can be used for fettuccine noodles and lasagna noodles. This recipe is from Indigo Nili on Ytube. Egg White Crepes 3/4 cup water 2 tbs gelatin 1/3 cup *EWP 2 tbs butter powder 1 pinch salt *EWP is egg white powder. Do NOT use fresh egg whites. Blend ingredients together. Heat a pan on medium. Brush butter in pan. Pour a 5" diameter of batter into the pan. Let cook a few minutes. When the batter is slightly firm, lift the crepe and flip it over. Let it cook a minute or two. Remove to a plate. Continue till all the batter is cooked and they are stacked on the plate. When I make noodles or lasagna, I reduce the gelatin to 1 tbs. After the batter is poured into the pan, swirl the pan to make the batter cover the pan. Cook till an edge starts to curl. Flip over the crepe and cook another minute. After they are stacked, roll them all together into a big roll. With a sharp knife, cut into 3/8" sections. Toss the sections with your fingers to loosen the rolls. Sauce them any way you want. If you want to use them as lasagna, lay the whole crepes into your lasagna pan and layer as you would lasagna. Heat until the ricotta melts. There are a lot of EWP recipes on her Ytube channel. She makes bread, biscuits, cookies, pita pockets, pizzas with EWP.

Great idea GPE, I haven't done that for a while!

I forgot to mention that the EWP wraps are less than 1g carb each.

SF, eggs and fresh fruits are def. go-tos for me! I go through periods of time where I go on or off lettuce. So hit or miss for me on salad. I like to also have some no lettuce salads like cukes and tomatoes with a little vinegar and oil.

PP if that's all you can eat, I feel sad for you. Is this a medically supervised diet? Please be more gracious to others on your posts. You never know what other people are 'really' going through. This is a community, not just of dieters (some are actually bulking up), but of mostly of kind, supportive people sharing their struggles and how it affects their relationship with food.

I'm glad to hear that you are under the care of a Dr. PP. I hope you can add variety as time goes on. My now adult niece is the same (very limited diet), and it's made me sad for her too. It was hard to watch her go through this. As a teen it affected her physically, emotionally and socially. She has gone through ups and downs over the years (at times very painful) when she attempted to add variety. She still has restrictions, but not nearly as many. I hope you too are able to add variety as time goes on. It sounds like you too could use some support. Please for heaven's sake, please practice kindness and empathy on this site (scroll by if you don't like something) and offer support where you can. As in life, you get what you give. Happy Monday!
