The reason we don't commercially have clotted cream in the USA is because it is made with raw milk, which can contain dangerous bacteria such as Salmonella, E. coli and Listeria. It is possible to buy raw milk in some states, and, of course, if you have cows you can drink their milk raw or make your own clotted cream; there are recipes and demonstrations on YouTube.

Interesting, Shirfleur! How do they avoid illness from it in the UK? (Sorry, don't mean to take away from the OP thread. My one trip to England left me with a forever love for clotted cream. 😍)

@YOH - I have had the afternoon tea before but this one was really good. We had 4 types of sandwiches, Baked Christmas Cake, Dark Chocolate Sponge Cake, Victoria Sponge Cake, Classic Scones w/clotted cream and warm mince pie. We also drank a full pot of tea!

@snowwhite100-The tour of the castle was magnificent with all the Christmas decorations and then the afternoon tea to top it all off. It was about 68 miles from London so it was a day trip for us.

@shirfleur- It is hard to find the clotted cream but we always order some in as we do a full English tea at Easter time with the family. We have our tea cups and we make a lot of the same things however I struggle with making the scones!
