My family is one hubby and five dogs.....our dogs don't eat ppl food but Hubby eats what I cook for him and he's looking better because I am cooking better now. He goes and gets single serving crap when he wants it and eats all of it and does not leave any sitting around. He's good that way. You got kids???

Couple of other gals cook different meals for kids and such, my daughter is 40 and living in Jacksonville and she asks me what's for dinner when we chat in the evenings on Discord...she lives vicariously here. I think she uses our dinner to plan her own LOL

@debra yes I do. I have 5 kids and a kitten and I'm in the process of adopting another kitten.

I cook the same for my family. I don't want them eating crap either. I want them to be healthy and strong, raised with good eating habits. If it's not good for our bodies, why would we want to give it to them, especially while they are in their most formative growing years.

Yes, super picky child that only eats 3 different dinners so it’s on a rotation. SO cooks his own most of the time since I’m vegetarian and he is not. Tonight we used the new quesadilla maker and I made mine with keto tortillas, sliced ghost pepper cheese and sautéed cabbage and he made his with flour tortillas, shredded Jack and make chicken

No. When I cook it’s for all of us, but I don’t make my kids eat it if they don’t like it. They have plenty of options they can fix for themselves.

Best to give them healthy eating habits while they are young. Teach them to take good care of their bodies inside as well as outside. Kittens are so sweet!

No. But based on the meal, I sometimes modify something I'm serving my family to make a healthier portion for myself. For example, when making breaded chicken cutlets, I take some portion of the chicken breast and bake it without the breading. I serve various salad dressings, some regular ones as well as reduced fat, so that's available for everyone to choose. But generally, I eat the same thing as my family, just measure out my portions to make sure they are within my calorie budget.

Not unless someone is really sick. I'm a "take it or leave it" kind of cook and I've raised 4 boys who are all very athletic. As kids I let everyone pick 1 thing they really hated and I didn't cook that. If choose you leave it you don't get to get something else from kitchen because that screws up my weekly menu plans and I ain't shopping twice because someone is picky. I've never loved cooking but always believed in my family eating homemade balanced meals. I also FORCED my kids to start learning to cook when they were young. And how to clean, do laundry and iron. Their dad taught them car repair, home maintenance and self defense. They all thanked us after they left home.

I'm an empty nester now, but I always cooked for the whole family. I'm a very good, healthy, and ethnic diverse food maker, so my kids were exposed to good eating habits from very young age, and they always tried everything( wi t h the option to spitting it out if they didn't like it!)

Yes, I do make separate dinners if I'm making any kind of spicy or ethnic meals that I feel that the younger children are going to have a hard time handling. oftentimes though I will just modify whatever meal I'm doing or leave it piecemeal style so that each person can just add whatever parts they want to the main dish. normally I find that the children as a age will just acclimate to the spiciness and cooked onions as they get older in addition I typically hide those ingredients such as cooked onions and garlic by cooking them and chopping them fine in the base meal and upping them in amount as they get older to their plates. things like vegetables are offered each time and encouraged but not forced I find that this causes them to enjoy them naturally and I don't have any problems with rejection of these foods. the only foods I really have problems with are very strong foods or strange textures and that's to each individual child and for that like I said I typically will serve those ingredients peace no style and honor each child's or husband's individuals tastes. as I would want someone to honor my individual taste or text your preferences. for example my son does not enjoy the texture of shrimp because he feels it tastes and feels like flesh he does not want to be a zombie he's six it's hard to explain to him that he's not going to make him a zombie easy I serve the shrimp on the side no big deal. I don't think it's hard to make small adjustments and I think that it's good to honor people's thoughts and opinions but I do think it's important to encourage new ideas and taste preference and profiles. I find by modifying the base dish and serving it as a buffet style I'm able to eat while the food's a little bit more warm and we can modify each person's dish at the table making it more of a family affair.

My kids are grown but my 2 granddaughters don’t have the same palette as me so…yes, I cook them things they will eat. They will eat some of what I cook but not all.

No, but I also don’t make things I know they don’t like. If I make something new, they take a “try it bite” and if they don’t like it they can make something else for themselves - my children are older now, when they were younger, if they didn’t like it I’d have something easy on hand to pop in the stove or whatever for them to eat instead.

I like you guys ideas. My kids have a diverse pallet but my 9 yo is in her, I don't like this and that phase and it's things she's eaten a 100 times. I try to cook stuff that everyone will enjoy but sometimes it's not necessarily healthy at all but it looks and smells so delicious it drives me crazy.. Sometimes I try to cook mines earlier than theirs so that when I cook for them, I'm not hungry so I won't indulge.........Btw: Im fostering two new kittens as of yesterday 😍😍😍😍🥰🥰🥰 I couldn't decide which to take home and they were both absolutely adorable and kind of imprinted on me and it was free adoption soooooo, why the heck not.... So now I have 3 male (6 mos, (2) 1 mos) fur babies altogether.. I have to keep them separated for the time being until they are tested for feline leukemia/feline aids and they finish their numerous medications bc they are under a pound.. They will be fixed and microchipped in a couple of weeks. I pray they both test negative so I can finalize the adoption.

That's so cool Qu33n! Pets have such a positive mental impact on folks and there are so many worthy pets available in the shelters who need loving homes and they give you such unconditional love. I adore folks who adopt shelter pets!
