Ok I’m getting desperate - does anyone have any ideas for getting rid of a head cold???

It’s been 21/2 weeks of hacking, runny/ congested nose, poor sleeps. I’ve tried every drugstore cold med, vitamin C, sleeping upright, lozenges, zinc, oil of oregano, netti pot…

The old wives’ standard advice is unfortunately yet to be surpassed: fluid, Tylenol, rest. And time. Lots of time.

Sorry you're having such a hard time. Perhaps it is allergies instead of a head cold. Try allergy meds.

That’s a good point. I usually don’t think about allergies because I don’t have any but the symptoms are similar. Hope allergy meds help

Thank you Laura, Rhontique and not skinnyenuf for taking the time to post. I am going to try Claritin today. I’m grateful it’s not COVID. But the worst part: I’m not sure I should go to my aunts funeral today or fly to bc next week (our 1st flight/wkend away since COVID). This truly sucks. I’m praying it’s better soon. Thx for being there. Your support made me smile today :). Happy Friday FS community!

Colloidal Silver! Take as much as you can in small amounts. It soothes a sore throat when gargling with it too! I have a small generator and make it at home. It can be pricey to buy but very effective for many ailments including a cold. Good luck!

Definitely thinking allergies. A cold is shorter lived and a flu is more severe. Covid would be better by now too. My boyfriend has had severe allergies teo weeks now, were in the Fraser Valley BC. Claritin or Reactine should help. You can always mask up during the funeral if symptoms persist after taking allergy meds. Hope it helps, and sorry for your loss.

There's soooo much pollen around though. 🤧 😪 😔 Usually a cold has run its course. You could just be very very allergic to all the dust, fluff and yellow stiff in the air and on everything. You can't go 20 minutes outside without hearing one of my neighbors or kids or myself sneezing and eyes/ears watering. But if nothing else works.. grandma's receipe of chicken noodle soup with garlic and onion in it should help. 🙂

I use Vicks Vapor Rub on the inside of my nose w/ a Q tip to avoid taking cold pills. It has worked for me for years. Hope you feel better.

I am with grammalaura, the old ways are still the best; plenty of rest, lots of fluids and usual over-the-counter meds. Be well soonest🙏🏻🙏🏻

Omg I love you guys! Thank you too to togagirl, Byrch, Suzu, Kevin, Magnuscanook! The Claritin helped a bit but I still believe I have a head cold that just keeps coming back (given the green vs clear phlemn and no rash, eyes are fine). I forgot about my good ole Vicks and it worked Kevin to clear nostrils! I was reluctant to use garlic or onions because I they trigger my gut (FODMAPs) but… lin desperation ast night I made a “headcold tea”: ginger lemon tea with thyme and sage added, onions and garlic cooked together and added, honey. Oh my fries but it helped!! Had two cups and slept 8 hours without hacking! Yahooooo!!!! Thx again everyone. 💜
