Whole foods is a special trip for me. 35 mi. There is a new trader joes haven't been there as it's over 40 mi. I do have other sources. A local grocery has a butcher who loves making all kinds of sausage. Nitrate and msg free. Another local store sometimes sells amazing nitrate free thick bacon that is also really lean. Both sausage and bacon are usually a very small portion cooked in sonething else. Hoping they have bacon this week for my pablano pepper casserole for a family get together
nxt sat
Msg is another ingredient that can cause various health issues.

Mom - Wish I'd recorded my intake - we could have a worst foods contest. As for the nitrate free foods - I have found all kinds them but none made it into the house for Christmas!

Classic - I know there are many indicators for weight loss and fitness, but for some reason I keep going back to the lowly scale.

Neptune - I am lucky that I can buy locally made nitrate free sausage - expensive also. But have yet to find a nitrate free ham (DH wanted ham). In addition, some Hickory Farms sausages found their way onto the table (and they tasted good wit the cheese and crackers - LOL.

Wholefoodnut - to be perfectly honest, I am rather lazy. Whole Foods and Trader Joes are about an hour's drive - so I remain content with what I can find locally.

Me as well. I am going to make the trip to whole foods sometime in jan. Might see if a neighbor wants to go as well. Haven't been there since my niece from australia was here last fall and she wanted to go.

You know we all need to make our own sausages. Can't you see us trying to stuff the meat into those skin-things. Ha Ha! I am thinking about getting a pork loin (on sale) and having the butcher grind it up for me so I can make my own sage sausage. That way I know what is in it. I don't know what they fed the pig though. :(
