Last post continued here... cause it looked ridiculously long > ________________________________________________________________________________ Some things I've learned about FAT: ________________________________________________________________________________
1 a tape measure around the waist (measured over time) seems MUCH more effective than a weight scale for measuring fat, but it's just less exciting and popular lol ________________________________________________________________________________
2 FAT and WEIGHT are NOT the same. You can keep the same weight and EVEN INCREASE weight, while LOSING FAT.
________________________________________________________________________________
3 FAT is not my enemy. It's essential, it feeds the brain, is important for learning and memory, Women consuming sardines vs those not were found to be over 80% less likely to experience cognitive impairments such as Alzheimers... because of the fat (and sardines are smaller than fish that contain a lot of mercury these days). ________________________________________________________________________________
4 FAT helps us store more energy than we can use right away... so we don't die if we can't find food in the next few days or weeks, as long as we have water. That's amazing! ________________________________________________________________________________
5 FAT protects organs and body in general from inflammation. People think that fat just stores energy. WRONG. The body often stores fat when harmful bacteria are consumed, and uses the fat to protect you from the inflammation and harm caused by those bacteria (possibly from too much lectins, simple sugars, processed food, etc.) SOOOOOOOOOOOO... _________________________________________________________________________________
*1 I want to understand as much about my body as possible
*2 Body fat is not accurately weighed by personal scales that we can buy in a store
*3 I've listed Standard Deviations of mass for my height to help calculate body fat, used fat calipers, BIA scales, and circular measuring tape...
BUT THE MOST ACCURATE WAY TO MEASURE BODY FAT IS THE DXA SCAN. SO I'VE OFFICIALLY MADE AN APPOINTMENT!!! TO CONTINUE MY HEALTH JOURNEY. TO UNDERSTAND MY BODY MORE. NOT TO JUSTIFY ANY BELIEFS ABOUT MY PERSONAL VALUE. TO UNDERSTAND HOW MY CURRENT WEIGHT RELATES TO MY CURRENT APPEARANCE, MY FAT and LEAN MASS. AND TO SEE HOW FAR I AM FROM MY MUSCULAR POTENTIAL (How much more muscle can I add on?). This is more a reference for me to document this step in my journey, so God Bless anyone who read this whole thing :)
