I have to figure something out

3x now I have developed ulcers on my tongue.
Never had I had any issues accept for some 'raised taste buds' after eating foods with an obvious huge amount of salt. So, I learned to watch my sodium intake ESPECIALLY if it tastes salty - my mouth seems to be hypersensitive.

Anyway - in the past 3 months or so, there has been at least 3 bouts of 1-2 ulcers on my tongue, along with the raised taste buds.

At first, I blamed some of the holiday foods I ate. It made sense because they were just not a part of my WOE for SO long and I thought...yep.. they are the culprit.

However... I did notice that this occurs when I'm faithful to drinking Kombucha.
Other things I've added on the daily (even a couple times a day):
Lemon all day in my ice water
Lemon in herbal teas
different seasonings and spices

All of the above is acidic. I don't want to give up ANY of it!
I so enjoy the benefits of it all. My gut feels better. I have even more energy. My sleep quality is better. My bm's are better.

I just started googling some inquiries about PH balance. I know its important. If there is any advice anyone can give me, please let me know.
Since my tongue is a direct hit from the acids consumed, I don't know if balance will help?

Drink through a straw?

My hands are up.....

My mind was thinking, "maybe drink with a straw?" before I got to your line. I don't know if it will help, but maybe worth a try. Lemon is also not super for your teeth, soooo.... I hope you find a solution. Have you talked to your MD?

Hi Melissa, I was getting ulcers in my mouth from a medication called gaba-penton (nueronton) years ago. Also if there’s an acidic and sugary beverage it can happen to me. If you put lemon or lime on salty food it will reduce the Ph level and probably help if sodium is intact the issue.

It could be a mild food allergy. I get those when I eat pineapple or bananas. Are you journaling all that you eat and or drink? I recommend that you include a supplement called L-lycene when the ulcers appear. You can take it as a preventative as well. It’s great for quickly healing any mucus membrane or sensitive skin issues (especially in or around your mouth). It can make cold sores go away almost overnight as well.

I have them come and go all the time. Have for most of my life. My dad was a dental surgeon and said it was a virus that goes through active and dormant phases. Seems to be pretty accurate though I do notice certain triggers when it’s apparently active.

Try rinsing with warm salt water. I used to do that when I got them. And don't stress too much it wont help lol Good Luck!

Part of the herpes virus family. What causes canker sores? Injury to the mouth may cause simple canker sores. Acidic foods, including citrus fruits, may trigger a canker sore or make it worse. Food sensitivities or allergies (anything from highly acidic foods to chocolate and coffee) Diets low in vitamins B12, zinc, folate (folic acid), or iron. Check WebMD for other causes and remedies.

I get them periodically, and have every since I was a child--there seems to be no rhyme or reason for them.

Try more alkaline foods to balance the acid??? Avocado, asparagus, apples, almonds, broccoli, butternut squash, cucumber, green beans , spinach. Beverages made from cukes, celery, spinach, kale apples unsweetened fruit and vegetable juices and tea, including green and herbal. You are doing well on your journey, you are now nipping at my heels, it's been slow but steady for me. Not like when I was younger!!
