What do I do about clothes at this point? Everything is either too baggy or too small. I don't want to buy a bunch of clothes that are going to be too big soon. I have no choice but to buy a few things. Nothing looks good on me right now. I've been trying on clothes for an hour. I finally put on a dress that I didn't think I could even get into. It's on, and it looks fine, but it was hard to get in to, and I'm afraid I'm going to rip it when I try to take it off. what to do?

Value Village or a second hand store...why pay a lot for clothes you can only wear for a month or two tops??

I'd second the idea of thrift stores/consignment stores and that type of thing. Thrift stores are great for everyday stuff, if you need a few pieces in more work worthy fabrications, consignment stores are your best bet. Do you know anyone that sews? Jeans are difficult to alter, but trousers and blouses are quite easy and a little nip or tuck here and there can get you another couple of months wear out of things. I would only do that on pieces you love, that are in great shape, etc. It can get expensive to alter everything. It costs just as much to alter something in really good shape as it does to take in something old that's on its last legs. It also depends on what your fit issues are-as an example, for me, trousers get too big in the butt/legs/belly way before they get to big in the waist, but if you're built on the more traditional hourglass mold just have the waist taken in and the slightly looser legs will just make you look longer and leaner. When it starts looking sloppy, though, get those legs taken in as well, that's a SUPER easy alteration.

You're so right about that. Most of the dresses I got are the style that really works for me which are halter dress, really loose on the bottom and fitted on top. Some are a little more fitted all the way down. Once I lose another 15 pounds, I'll feel more comfortable in those because of the tummy. I never thought to alter anything. I never have, but I definitely will because I don't waste my money on super trendy clothes that will go out of style by next year, and I don't buy anything unless I love it. I try to get a lot of wear out of my clothes.

You are a PERFECT candidate for alterations then. Classic styles that already flatter your body type, that you truly love, but just need a bit of tweaking, are always best for alterations. Trends aren't worth spending the money on.
