Does anyone know the name of a diabetic diet? My friends doctor just put her on that kind of diet and I was hoping something on here would help her.
Thanks!

Doctors often recommend a low glycemic diet for diabetics because by restricting refined carbs (sugar, white flour, potatoes) your blood sugar won't zoom up and down and create an insulin response. Insulin spurts can result in your body stashing all those refined carb calories as fat (right round your middle) according my my cardiologist who suggested the Low GI Diet to me. There is a forum here on Fat Secret for Low GI Dieters.

I'm a diabetic and before I decided to get busy and get the wieght off on May 12th at the doctor's office I weighed 316 and my blood sugar was 480. It took awhile but my blood sugar is good and I'm feeling bettel. I feel great when I'm on the WW diet, cause it's not a diet, it's a new way of life. I have lost a total of 17 pounds since then and feel great. This time I pray every day I stick with it. I try to stay within my points and between 1200 and 1500 calories.
