There's no place like home... And even though I've in the past struggled with my eating when returning home after a trip, today is going to be different. DH is not traveling this time & should be home from work by the time I get there, so that's a real plus in itself. And, I've planned 3 real meals & times that I can eat them mindfully (in the past I instead tried to get by with snacks to hold me over until I was home which resulted in continued snacking/grazing & overeating), have healthy snacks in case of any travel delays, have listened to my daily meditation/visualization tape, and have my personal visualization of an angelic security guard protecting me from myself & my pantry:)!

The visit with Mom was good -- she had a better day again yesterday. Although her only comment about the movie we saw, Safe Haven (which was very good & one of the better Nicholas Spark's in my opinion), was how long it was, I know she enjoyed doing something different & as always, she enjoyed lunch & dinner out. I'm especially relieved to see that the Alzheimer's does not seem to have progressed, which was also confirmed by my friend who had dinner with us last night.

I'm disappointed with myself though that I again overate yesterday, again healthy foods & no sugar, dairy or wheat, but did not follow my plan to eat mindfully. But, I'm glad I have today to try again & I'm confident I'll do better. My journey with all it's recent ups as I'm feeling so good about being sugar, wheat & dairy free for over 6 weeks, the down that I now need to address is that I still overeat during stressful times. So, that's next on the agenda!

But, I'll start today again praying for serenity and will be extra diligent praying, breathing, logging, posting & expressing on this one travel day & for each meal, moment, bite & emotion at a time. Xoxox

Welcome home! Don't fret about a little overeating - under the circumstances I'd say you did fantastic. And very good news that your Mom's condition has not worsened.

Glad your home Ruth and that your trip to see Mum was good and you didn't find any progression with the Alzeimers. Don't be hard on yourself- you are doing fantastic and need to cut yourself some slack about the "overeating" , you have made a lot of positive changes in a short time. take care -HUGS
