bump98's Journal, 19 July 2010

I had a horrible weekend. Not with food but the fact that my back was bad enough that I spent the entire weekend in bed. It felt like one of my "life sucks and I hate the world" weekends I use to have. I did very good as far as food goes though. I still think I lost over the weekend because my belt is looser then last week. I had to go in another notch. My back is still killing me but I made to through work. Not planing on walking until it feels better. I also didn't have much of a appetite today. I'm now at 605 Kcal and usually I am at 800 by this time in the day. I still have dinner to go which I'll get to about 1200. Wish my back would get better. It sucks doing nothing now. I want to be out and about not at home.

I've had problems with my back and sciatic nerve which caused a lot of pain. I couldn't get out of bed for two days, but that's when I stopped tracking calories and never started back with exercising. I had been trying to lose weight for a few weeks then and had lost some, but gained all of it right back plus some. Now months later I'm wishing I wouldn't have given up, I would be so much further along. I admire that you aren't giving up and that's awesome that your belt is getting looser! Hope you start feeling better :)

Ouch, sorry to hear about the back pain. I second the heating pad idea. Try some gentle stretches if you can, I know that yoga/stretching sometimes helps me in that way.

Try your hardest to stay strong. Remembering that the more success you have at your quest to become more fit/slim etc. the better effects it will have on your back. Keep up your determination, it will pay off. We are counting on you. What kind of work are you doing now?? What part of the country do you live in?? We have had about 6 days in a row with 100 Plus heat index temps. I can't imagine having to work outdoors. Thinking about you! Todd

There is no giving up or quitting. These words are not in my vocabulary. There is no try. There is doing or not doing. My choice is to DO. I have accepted that this is the way I'm going to live for the rest of my life. I appreciate the encouragement. It means A LOT. I also love that you stated "We are counting on you." Now why in the world would I want to disappoint all these wonderful people on FS. As far as where I live and what I do. I'm a tech support specialist working for a major wireless carrier. I live in Northern Indiana. So I'm not out in this heat for 8 plus hours a day, which is a good thing. Thanks Todd and all my close FS friends. You guys and gals are great and if it wasn't for you I wouldn't be 60 LBS lighter.

You can lose weight without exercise. Plenty of people lose 100s of pounds without exercise. Of course exercise is great, beneficial, and will help you along. But it is not necessary for weight loss so don't feel like you're not going to be able to continue losing even though you are injured. I've long thought that weight loss in 80% diet and 20% exercise. Back pain sucks. But what sucks worse is injuring yourself further. Take it easy and I'm sure you'll do fine since you're watching what you eat.

Been on the heating pad off and on all day. Seems to be helping but if I'm off it for too long I really feel it.

REally sorry to hear about your bad back. It's the worse pain there is. I hope you're feeling better soon. Stay with the program! This is over yet.
