Did 40 minutes of exercises from Age-Defying Fitness - mostly flexibility - last night. Forty minutes of rowing while watching an episode of "Person of Interest" I hadn't seen, which certainly helped to pass the time. Measured my heart rate with the Runtastic app for Android and it went up 20 points from resting after rowing, which put me in the cardio benefit zone. I like that the app records your heart rate for you and uploads it to the Runtastic site.

Wore the running shorts and the blisters didn't bother me. I'm beginning to think it was the chafing from the cotton shorts I wore that caused the blisters. I like the running shorts because they're cool but mainly because they put me in touch with my overhang/gut/love handles and remind me I've got more weight to lose. I must really have a small frame to have so much more to lose. Forgot to do the foot rocker exercises for plantar fasciitis and the wrist curls but did the foot rocker exercises while watching the evening news.

Celebrated my birthday by staying up to watch an episode of "Justified." Once again, no buffering so I'm going to extend the VPN trial from one day to one week. It's only $4 a month - would be worth it if it gets rid of the buffering. I was going to order takeout to celebrate my birthday - burger, Dr. Brown's soda, and banana pudding. It would have been pretty expensive and amped up my calories, plus I've never ordered takeout in the time I've been here, so I got cold feet.

The Tone Fitness step arrived today. I hope to use it in exercises, but I'm starting out by putting on my feet while watching the evening news to relax my back muscles per "Age Defying Fitness" tip. ThunderBell arrives Saturday. Lifeline TNT Cable System with DVD is in carrier limbo with USPS.

Got eight-and-half hours of sleep with dreams, waking up periodically but not wide awake. Just read an article on Lifehacker that says seven hours is ideal. I'm going to try to stick to that. Body fat this morning: 27.7 (hydrated) I believe that's the lowest I've seen in the short time I've started recording. Ninety-seven degrees today, cooler tomorrow. Waiting until tomorrow when it cools off before heading to Kroger. I've discovered a new temptation at Kroger: f'reals, frozen milkshakes and cappuccino drinks. Classic example of addiction substitution: swapping Starbucks frappuccinos for f'reals. At least the f'reals are cheaper. Grateful for the Sparco letter rack which I'm using to organize my Kroger coupons. I was using envelopes, which made no particular sense.

Feeling twinges in my knee which makes me nervous. Thirteen minutes of stretching in bed. Twenty-seven minutes of leg exercises on the mat with ankle weights and wall slides (planks for your legs). Thirty minutes of rowing while watching "Justified."

More decluttering: I'm putting my Belkin wireless routers G and N up on Freecycle as soon as I find the CDs that go with them. I still have a Motorola N router for a backup. Put my nonworking Samsung 17-inch LCD monitor and a dryer hood on Freecycle. Threw away my Tyson's Ready & Grilled and Morning Star coupons: too much sodium.

Okay, I have a stupid question. What is the foot rocker exercise ??

Thanks, mardee57. I wish I could say I was innately virtuous, but I got "scared straight" by muscle loss (sarcopenia): one part aging, one part a sedentary lifestyle.

Not a stupid question, SherrieC. The foot rocker is a proprietary name for a device that allows you to stretch your calf muscles. It's a physical therapy tool that improves flexibility and helps prevent lower back pain and foot injuries. It's good for plantar fasciitis, ankle strain, and Achilles tendonitis.
