Happy Easter! Wishing all who celebrate the day, a happy, healthy holiday!
I'm flying home this afternoon, and looking very forward to getting back. I'm feeling just like Dorothy... As there's no place like home! But even as eager as I am to get on my way, it'll be sad to say goodbye to my mom. I know she's in good, capable hands though, and only a phone call away. I'm fortunate to have been able to come out here, spend this time with her and oversee her care. And I'm leaving knowing she's making progress and slowly getting physically & mentally better. Time will tell if she gets back to the level of self-sufficiency that she was at before. Again, though, the retirement community here offers all levels of assistance and a nursing home when/if the need arises.
I'm doing well and happily stayed my course gluten, lactose & sugar free even with some stronger sugar cravings last night. I've comforted myself with sugar in the past, so I'll be on high alert as the stress & emotions of leaving rise. I'll focus on taking care of me, feeling the feelings & finding non-food ways to comfort myself along the way, remembering that for me one bite of sugar is too much and 100 bites never enough. I'll do the best I can, stay curious, seek calm and strive for progress, not perfection.
Having each of you and all the love & support you have showered me with along the way has meant so much to me -- I can't say enough how much! I hope to catch up with you all soon & miss not having the time to stay in touch via your journals. Plus, getting onto FS from my iPad has been hit or miss, but I know you understand & I'll be back supporting each of you in your journals again soon.
Now, I'll start my day praying for serenity. I'll then get a quick workout in my room, shower & head to Easter mass, come back to pack & see Mom become I head to the airport. I'll be home in time for dinner with DH & DS. Along the way, I'll pray, breathe, journal, log & express my way on this one day and through each one meal, moment, bite, thought & emotion. I'm so very grateful for each of wonderful you, my family & IRL friends, that mom is getting better with each passing day, & to be going home today with the health & wealth to live this life I love!
