DairyKing's Journal, 18 January 2012

A rather brisk Wednesday morning. Up at 4:00; ran 3.0 miles on the treadmill. Was having a hard time logging into the iFit Live thing, so I just ran at a 1% incline for most of it, and threw in 5 minutes at 5% incline. Tuesday and Wednesday are my only back-to-back runs, so they are supposed to be easy. I plan to do 3 1/4 miles on Friday, and 5 1/4 miles on Sunday. By the end of next month, my Sunday run is supposed to be 10 1/4 miles; I'll let you know how that goes. I'm committed to trying this; I'll either "get-er-done", or I'll know it's just too much for me. Either way, I'm doing my part; it won't be for lack of trying.

The diet; well that's another thing. I've been struggling to stay below 220 lbs. Well, I guess not struggling enough - not quite as committed to the eating thing as I have been with the running. I know the more weight I take off, the easier the running will get. I've laid off the shortbread cookies; now it's the mixed nuts. LOL. It's not the food's fault. Until I make my mind up again, I will always find something in which to overindulge. It's still all about moderation, and I can tell I'm being stupid - before I even commit the act. It's kind of silly, when you think about it, to have difficulty taking weight off when you're burning almost 4,000 calories a day. Come on DK! What were you thinking???

I think that The Miss Universe pageant is fixed because the winner is always from Earth.

The only thing worse than running at 4:00am is running at an incline at 4:00am. Way to work!

You are running so much your body may be asking for something that it is not getting. You may think you are being weak but it could be just that you are not getting the extra carb or protein your body needs now that you are a Running Machine =) Just a thought.

Well, you may be right M. I think I'm just going to have to start doubling up on some nutritious stuff like broccoli, cauliflower, beets, carrots, etc. instead of nuts and shortbread cookies. If nothing else, they should fill me up without adding a lot of useless calories. If I'd quit hanging around the kitchen at bedtime, just looking for opportunities, I'd probably be a lot better off too.
