Good Morning, FS Warriors! Today is Friday, Pre-Launch Day for my 5K and my vacation. I knew I was only going to run an easy 2 miles this morning, so I slept in until about 4:00. Ran a little harder than I thought I would, but it's not like it's going to keep me from running a 5:00 minute mile tomorrow. Other things are going to keep me from doing that - like my body! LOL! My leg was still sore this morning around the area where I had the muscle cramp, the last couple of days. I drank lots of water and decaf iced tea yesterday. Probably ate more salt than I should have; just didn't want another cramp like yesterday's, again this morning. And I didn't have one. Yay! Didn't notice any soreness or restriction of any kind during my run. No excuses for tomorrow. It's about an hour's drive to the race, so I plan to leave out around 5:00 to give myself time to jog a mile or so to warm-up, do some stretching, go to the bathroom (hopefully, there is one), run the race and be at Hardees before 8:00 AM. The sausage, egg and cheese biscuit will be my trophy. LOL!

I am eating out tonight, just to make sure I don't overindulge, and in order to eat something relatively healthy the night prior to the race. I already plan to have the chicken alfredo, sans wine. Don't want to provide myself any opportunity for dehydration. Maybe a banana and V8 before I leave in the morning. We'll see how that combination all works, and whether or not to use the same system for the next race. Still can't make up my mind just how hard to push myself. I think that I will start out at a moderate pace and just see how I feel. I tend to do negative splits, that is, if I don't start out too fast and burn myself out. That just means as I warm up, I run each successive mile a little faster.

Got my hair cut (more than one, Kathy) last night. Went home and banged on my guitar for an hour or so. I'm going to be a musician if it kills me (or those listening to me). Someday, I'm going to record a Youtube video and you will all get to see this old guy make his musical debut. You'll probably say, "That guy should have stuck to making pens." Haha. No guts, no glory!

Well, I think I've bent your ears enough for one session. Going to see if I can't get some work done. I need to work right up to vacation time, so it will still be fresh in my mind how to do it when I come back. :D Here's wishing everyone a wonamous Friday, and a great weekend! Toodles!

Awesome plan, DK! Yes, more water is great but it can also wash out the salts you need. Maybe drink some watered down Gatorade to quench and hydrate but keep yourself balanced with the electrolytes. You will breeze through that 5k after all your training!

We've got quite a few talented people on this site. You could connect with NM. He plays several different instruments, gives lessons and sings. Us groupies ;~) love musicians.

Best of luck DK... Several of my family will kick off similar runs over the next few months so it's great to see so many getting out there and getting healthy. Eating changes is only half of the health game. Exercise is what injects health into that new lighter body though.
