bigbassbrent's Journal, 13 June 2014

Just a quick journal before I start my weekend. I am upping my daily calories to 2400 from 2150.

I ran my numbers again on the IIFYM calculator using my calculated body fat at 10% and my expenditure went up quite a bit. My TDEE with 3 workouts a week is at 2611 calories and that does not include the 10 miles of walking I do per week. So, time to eat more, build muscle and continue burning fat!

Hmmm...calorie increase just before the weekend? Interesting, interesting indeed. Just kidding, I know you have worked hard for it. Enjoy and way to go with the body fat of 10%. That is awesome!

Soooooo jealous. I'd have to run a marathon 3 times a week to eat that many and maintain.

It seems mine is about 200 above the amount calculated by the IIFYM 'fat considered' calculator even that for my age. Yay, metabolism. :) Now the fun begins. The calculators will hold less and less weight as you gain muscle. I'd really suggest a spreadsheet so you can quickly check your average calories against you weight gains or losses, otherwise, all you'll be doing is guessing and likely going in circles.

One more thing. That's not as much food as you may think. *smirk*

I did this for a couple of reasons. Number one, I have been extra hungry, I think due to the more intense workouts. Feed me!!! Number two, is because last week I created an account on bodybuilding.com and it got me to thinking. There is a section that asks you for your fitness goal. It’s asks, do you want to look like an athlete, a body builder, ripped skinny, fitness model, ect? Of course choose fitness model. Who doesn’t want to look like Mark Wahlberg? :-) The breakdown based on my current body composition came up with the following goals. My target weight should be 176 at 8% body fat. (I am going to go with my gut feeling for my current body fat and say I am at 11% instead of the 9% that I kept calculating.) To achieve this goal I need to continue to lose body fat along with gaining about 8 lbs of muscle. So from here forward weight loss is not necessarily my current goal. Fat loss is the goal, but I need to gain muscle weight as well. So my plan is to add just enough calories so that I am eating very close to my maintenance calories. I want to be right on the edge of gaining muscle and loosing fat. I will monitor my BF% progress for two weeks and reassess the calorie situation at that time. I hope everyone had a great weekend.

I stumbled on that site this weekend and then stumbled right back off. I'm no where near that mindset just yet but for some reason I think I want to look (or maybe feel) like an athelete (minus the aches and pains). I keep envisioning myself tire pull across the beach (yep!). But first I will tackle doing a normal push-up.

Oh yeah, strongman (or woman) is another choice they give you on that site. Those are the guys that flip tires, pick up truck axles and throw trees. I guess that’s a good goal to have Chica! LOL. And don’t feel bad about the pushups. Doing one a day is a success! Just try it. I am struggling with the same thing right now, only with pull ups. I finally got a pull up bar but I can hardly use it. The most I have done at one time is 4 and im not even sure I got all the way up on the 4th one. This morning I tried again, only 2. I remember doing 15 or more in high school. We got a long way to go, but we can both get there Chica!

Alright, thanks for the incentive. I will try to do two regular push-ups. I have mastered the wall push-ups. If I could throw a tree...dare to dream, lol.
