Good Morning, FS Warriors! The cold icy wind last night was almost unbearable! This morning, the 16 degrees Fahrenheit almost felt comfortable in comparison. I think our wind chill is supposed to be around -20 F tonight. We've had a couple inches of rain and Terra Firma isn't so firma around here right now. We ordered 15 tons of recycled concrete for filling in the area where we park our vehicles. I'll probably fill in some low spots in the road also (that the city is supposed to maintain, but doesn't). Whatever is left over, I'll use for the new driveway from the gym to the alley that I need to build in the Spring.

Had to pick up a lot of pet supplies yesterday after work at Walley World. I knew DW was making vegetable soup, which I dearly love. But, I was kind of hungry and I went browsing through the deli section. Most of the time, I would just pick a pre-made sub that had the most meat buried in some 12 inch loaf of Italian bread, and eat it on the way home. Of course, I would wash it down with a diet coke. I would not want to be mistaken for a gluttonous person. So, last night I did exercise some resolve, and found a small package of chicken, bacon and cheese wraps and got them. They were about the size of healthy sushi's, wrapped in tortilla bread. I really should have just gotten in the truck and went home, but it was still better than grabbing a candy bar, or the super-sized meat lovers special. Anyway, the scale this morning said I hadn't done anything radically stupid.

Walked/ran for 35 minutes on the treadmill last night at 1% incline. I was feeling like I've been sandbagging a little too much, so I increased my running vs walking time a bit, with no serious after effects. I just want to be able to go out and comfortably run a 5K in the Spring. Kind of lost confidence from my last 5K, where I went out too fast in the beginning, and crashed and burned half way through the race (not literally; that's just Runners Speak for ran out of steam).

Rather than offering up a length novel on the merits of healthy eating, I thought I'd just give you this link to an article written by someone that does a better job of it than me. You can thank me later, Ryan. I call the article Healthy Eating 101 because it is basic; sometimes we forget that this doesn't have to be complicated or painful. If we can eat things we enjoy, that fill us up, and are good for us, then that's most of the battle.

Healthy Eating 101: Filling but not Fattening

A guy at work says, "What are you up to?" I said, "My ideal body weight, if I was 11 feet tall!" Toodles!

ha, i love those subs in a pinch. I get the big one, flip the meat all onto one side, give the cheese to my dog, and eat half the bun. HA, I do that when I am traveling. I assume chocolate cheese cake isn't in that article you posted. LOLOLOL. Great workout, keep up the awesome work and keep warm with that soup, till it turns 70 again in IL.

Yep, Lizzy; I don't think chocolate cheese cake is in the list. But I'm with you if you want to add it. :)
