DairyKing's Journal, 19 September 2012

Good Morning, FS Friends,
Yes, I have been rather lax in my journaling. I've got a hundred and ninety-nine excuses, but none of them really stand the test of scrutiny. DW has been sleeping most of the day, and I rarely know ahead of time whether or not she is going to be doing any cooking, so, me being the rational kind of guy that I am . . . I've been hitting the fast food restaurants again on the way home from work - just in case there's been no activity at home. And then, if she does cook, I don't want to offend her, so I eat that too. I don't want to call and wake her up, and I don't want to make her feel obligated, by asking her if she is going to be cooking tonight. So, I know I should have a better plan, like having an emergency healthy food source stashed at home instead. In any case, I've been taking the easy way out.

Doctor told her she is going to be tired most of the time while taking this radiation. And . . . then she is going to go through menopause again. Oh terrific! Just when I thought life couldn't get any better! They tell her that she won't start getting her energy back for 6 to 9 months after she is done with radiation. Now, I'm thinking how I had attempted to motivate her to do a little more around the house before she even got cancer, and that went over like a lead balloon. I think I'm going to either have to hire one of the grandkids to do some occasional housework, or I'm just never going to dig out from under all these projects. I thank God though that I'm still healthy. It looks like I'm just going to have to schedule my time down to the minute for the next 6 months or so. I'm not complaining; she will bounce back from this; it's just a little frustrating that all of this has taken place after the surgeon told her she "got it all." My goodness, what would she have to go through if the surgeon hadn't gotten it all?! Don't worry, I'm just venting.

It was 38 degrees F last night. Amazing how we went from drought and 100 degree temps to near freezing in one week. That's the way my life has felt this year. What a ride! Hope everyone has a great day.

PS: What do you think of this?

So good to hear from you. I know your life isn't all a bed of roses right now. Just a suggestion - microwavable frozen foods have come a long way in the past few years. I use the Kashi brand (but I fear that may be way too healthy for you). Hang tough!

DK - so glad to hear you back on the journal page. Yes, you are up against some challenging things right now, but any guy who can handle some of your projects - can manage this, too. The green coffee extract is all the rage, Caffeine does suppress appetite so maybe it works! Hang in there - we are here for you to vent!

Hey Dk! Glad to hear from you, buddy! Time to grocery shop on things easy to fix, right? Fast Food is so easy, isn't it? Try to eat the salads if you can. LOL! I looked at the green coffee bean ad. I haven't heard about it before. Let me know if you try this out. One never knows when something is legit. Take care. Hugs!

I second the microwave dinners idea. When I was busy all the time and working long hours, it was a huge relief to know I had something I could just nuke for 6 minutes and it'd be ready. Pretty high in sodium, though. Otherwise, I'd suggest doing what I try to do now. Find an hour or two on the weekend and make a couple of casseroles and maybe a big pot of soup. It sounds like a lot of effort, but I honestly only spent about 30 minutes chopping stuff up on the weekend, and then just left the stuff to simmer on the stovetop for a couple of hours, and I know that when I get home tonight I have really good chicken casserole that'll be ready after 5 minutes of nuking.
