So much learned in the past year...
I'm not living from each adventure to the next, but finding enjoyment in each moment - mindfulness. It really makes life slow down to be appreciated.
I went without the gym for a few months to treat an illness. I lost 50lbs, but gained appreciation for balancing nutrition and exercise with the rest of life. Since starting again, my weight is creeping up slowly and under total control.
My workouts are shorter and much more intense than before. In my opinion, more satisfying.
I've learned flexibility in timing and consistency of meals. If I can't get in 150g+ of protein, it's not life-ending. If I can't eat a post-workout meal for a couple hours after the gym, no biggie at all. I don't force a whole extra meal late in the evening just to satisfy a rigid caloric goal anymore.
While out and about, I don't let the protein content or calories dictate what I choose from a menu. If it's heavy, I cut back the next day. Simple.
I am, by no means, a singular FS success story. I have the same tools all of us here have. I've just been logging obsessively for years and practice has paid off. I put in time at the gym. I work hard. I love to play in my free time. Life is better for me when it's in balance.
Time to start logging again soon to see how accurate my caloric intuition is.
