I have a question, can anyone explain what net calories & net carbs are?
Frosty, you seem knowledgable and helpful! Are there net carbs in raw veggies (not including beans, peas or corn)?

Slow. Weight loss. The first two weeks of VLCD
First of all, thank you so much for replying, The program said that people lose between 3-5 lbs a week so I guess I thought on 800 calories and around 50 carbs I would lose 4 lbs a week. I read that some lose up to 7 the first week. Maybe my expectations were out of line?

Slow. Weight loss. The first two weeks of VLCD
I am two days shy of completing my first two weeks of a medically supervised VLCD and am feeling completely demoralized. I have followed the program exactly. My "cheats" have been a few sticks of gum, a few raw vegetables and the first week, I had a gin and diet tonic. For the last 7 days I have had no cheating at all. I am on four shakes a day, each is 200 calories. I am drinking copious amounts of water, a diet coke a day, non caloric teas and coffee. I put no calorie flavoring in my water. I have only lost 3 to 4 lbs ( hard to know exactly with water weight). I find this incomprehensible!!! How is it possible? I have been walking but no other exercise. I feel so upset as I chose to VLCD for a quick start to weight loss. Please respond! I am 5'2 and weigh 145.5
