Well! Another new 20+ year low! It looks like my foray into Latin American cuisine kicked my metabolism into a new gear. After a light day at work, I decided to stop into my local seafood store. What a surprise when I walked in! Previously, it was a drab, cavernous place with no decor, and just one refrigerated showcase that held the day's offerings. Now, it's a beautiful country store, with quaint rustic decor and lots of fresh, locally grown produce. They also have homemade jams and pickles, jugs of lemonade, locally produced soaps, candles and bath bombs, and a small selection of in-house baked goods and candies. I spoke with the owner, and she told me that they have partnered with a few local farmers to provide fresh, local, seasonal produce at reasonable prices. I was so thrilled, I almost cried! I picked up 1/2 lb of shrimp that were caught that morning, and a couple of green tomatoes. I butterflied the shrimp and grilled them over coals, then slathered them in sugar-free BBQ sauce. The tomato was simply sliced, dusted with salt, pepper and garlic powder, then fried in butter. SO good!! For the first time in a long time, I cleaned my plate. This afternoon is the first yoga class at the cultural center. I have to dig out the yoga mat I've had stashed away for years. I'm really looking forward to it! Have a great Thursday, buddies! ~Kes

Thanks guys.....I didn't make it to yoga because the skies opened up and dumped a deluge over us. I hate driving in pouring rain, and this is a flood-prone area. Right now, it's thundering and I can't see across the yard because of the sheets of rain. Thunderstorms always make me sleepy, so I'm considering a 'nap' at 6:20 PM. From past experience, that means I'll wake up, bright eyed and bushy tailed at 1 AM. GAK! The good news is that I don't have to be at work until 11:30 tomorrow, so I can nap again before work.

Have a nice yoga class. Seafood is not my thing but it sounds like it would be good.

Did anyone ever suggest that you should maybe be a writer or journalist? Just wondering ...your writing is so descriptive. It makes one feel like they are actually in the story.

Thank you, Jim! Yes, people have suggested it before. I actually have a degree in Journalism, and my first career was as an advertising copy writer. Words are my playground.
