For the first time I started making protein smoothies to increase my protein intake hoping it’d help me lose weight since protein boosts weight loss… however it seems to me that these protein powder aren’t effective as eating actual meat or fish? Am I wrong? I been on a 1200 cal for 3 weeks and my weight after the first week been stuck on the past 12 days… which coincides when I started to have more protein. Powder smoothies… am I wrong? Or what’s your insight in this? Anything you suggest to help me lose weight faster? I wish to lose at least 1lb per week… but not even half… it’s just stuck!

they will not help you lose weight any faster and what you experienced is completely accurate they are not nearly as satiating as eating protein from a direct source such as meat. they are just an easy source of protein and the health and supplement industries have had amazing marketing to make people think they can't live without them and have to immediately consume them after working out etc

I use zero carb zero sugar protein powder for smoothies or bowls once a day. For my actual weight loss, though, higher protein from other sources, more fiber, and less carbs has worked the best for me.

@Obesetobeast - Right. Thank you for the confirmation. I’ll get back to what I was doing before then.

@sheryl Thank you for your comment. I think I’ll just stick to protein powder when I am so busy I have no time to cook… emergencies kinda thing.

I tried protein powder for the same reason. I hated it and it wasn’t filling. I have been eating low-fat 80 calorie Greek yogurt cups in a variety of flavors as daily meal replacements. It’s amazing how filling they are with the probiotics. I’ve now lost 55 in 3 months. I have been drinking only water eating a lot of chicken and lean meats. I’ve had to be careful too because I have had gout for several years so some of the foods that I would normally eat to lose weight I have had to avoid or at least limit. It’s really been just about educating myself on nutrition, reading labels, completely eliminating sugar except for fruits ( No fruit juices even though my absolute favorite drink in the world is OJ) So long story short it’s been an educational 3 months with a lot of trial and error but I’ve figured out what works for me.
