Greetings Buddies:
Hmmm...who said Ketogenic food plans do not work? Down 1.6 pounds this week!
I download books to my iPod to listen to at night. I listened to Jimmy Moore's "Keto Clarity" again. It is a great overview of the science of why our bodies prefer running on ketones and fat, not glucose/carbs. My LCHF pals may want to check it out!
Words of the Week: "Frustration is the first step towards improvement.”
I am dedicated, determined and diligent.

I listened to it a few months ago. He gets a little relentlessly pitchy at points and so one-sided that I have to wonder if he's leading us down the path to some sort of destruction, but his narration is oddly compelling, as is the machine-gun-fire content, and in general, I believe him. It changed the way I ate. It's tough for me to follow his suggestions because I don't do well with dairy, but I LCHF is definitely my key to success. I just end up with high protein, too, and that's probably slowing my weight loss. I'm glad that the system is working out so well you. That's inspiring!

Congrats on the weight loss! I did Atkins (very strictly) for 2 months several years ago and lost a lot of weight, but my cholesterol levels shot through the roof and I had to switch diets for the remainder of my weight loss. P.S. You look great in your photo!

@LOKIDIXON - I agree with you about the one-sided pitch at times - but I have also listened to "Grain Brain" my David Perlmutter MD, and "Low Carb Living" by Johnny Bowden, and several others books about metabolism and fat. They all have the same theme and, for me, the results are important. I do not eat dairy or grains so I am a hybrid of LCHF and Paleo.
|
That's really cool. I'm going to have to take a closer look at your diet because it sounds like you're successfully living the lifestyle that I need. FWIW, I loved GRAIN BRAIN and WHEATBELLY, which started my "reeducation." I'm so thankful for these books. Is LOW CARB LIVING worth checking out? Thanks, and great work!

The keto diet worked great for me, then I fell off the wagon... bad. Old habits, etc. Your success is inspiring.

@Lokidixon - Yes, I like "Low Carb Living" too because he goes into the history of LCHF programs - people were discovering it was effective in the 19th century!

I was just talking to someone today about not eating grains, specifically so much bread, she seemed surprised.
