I switched from Paleo to Vegan on Thursday evening, hoping to get over a bad cold I had brought upon myself by stressing over work. Went Fri-Sun without wine, caffeine or animal protein, and felt terrible. The cold proceeded as usual, gradually clearing up, but I was so sleepy I could barely get out of bed to take a sauna. I thought I was feeling more relaxed and at peace with myself by eliminating the animal flesh from my diet, not to mention the coffee and wine, but on Monday morning, once the Blackberry started ringing and the urgent emails rolled in, I was just as stressed as ever, only too weak to deal with it. I dragged myself and my swollen, bean-bloated, flatulent guts through the day, then ate a big dinner of salmon and rice and washed it down with a bottle of red while working late at night. Feel much better, today. I've tried vegetarianism and veganism before. Great ideals for a better world. Unfortunately, they don't work for me in this world.
