maeday42's Journal, 01 February 2017

Well, today has not started off well at all. I'm not complaining mind you, but I woke up in full blow diabetic reaction, hands shaking, mind not processing correctly. My sugars must have been quite low, because when I started to know what was happening around me my husband was force feeding me spoons of sweet peanut butter. Why peanut butter you ask? Apparently, when he tried to give me OJ - I refused too many carbs. That scared him, but showed him how much my mind is committed to doing this Keto thing! The low is a good sign for me, because I haven't had a low for about 2 years now. Yes, I know its dangerous, I've contacted the doctor and we're going to drop my insulin a bit. Which is a very good thing! Now I have to start testing before bed too. I came to work late and not feeling 100%, but I'll get through the day. I think I'll not exercise tonight though, think I need to rest a bit. However, tomorrow I'll do a bit more on the to make up for doing none today.

Oh gosh I know that had to have been rather scary for you and especially your husband, but glad your doctor is working with you. Hope you feel better through out the day!

Good for you for low blood sugars and for calling your doctor.

It doesn't really phase me anymore, I've had diabetes for almost 20 years. It does however freak out the Mom and Husband. They have both been calling me at work all day, such worries, :-) I'm fine.

I know exactly how they feel rather stressed seeing you going thru all that stuff, my daughter was the same way until I lost her 1.5 years ago, I still feel really sad at times, but I am glad you are very aware, and also that they know how to assist you in a moment like that! I am glad you are feeling a bit better..... Keep on keeping on.;-)

I'm really very sorry for you loss Wanaluksophine. I found out I was diabetic when I was on a trip to Australia, I fell into a coma and stayed that way for a little over a week. I have a bit of wanderlust in my soul, at least I did when I was young. Mom never understood, she's never left home, she's never had a passport or the need to go anywhere. I know it killed her to have me so far away when I was so ill. I was very lucky, I came out of it. Now I have her with me (she's 85) and she still worries about me. So, not only for my sake, but for hers, I keep fighting.
