Even with having the slice of Franklin Nut Cake yesterday and planning to have the last piece today, my Average Calories Per Day for the week so far is only 1,411 per day! I’ve been sacrificing some of my fruits and vegetables to keep my calories really low for accommodating the cake indulgence. Back to normal, healthy eating tomorrow!

I don’t know if it’s related to having the cake or not, but I’ve REALLY been missing the diet soda lately. Stupid Kroger still has them Buy 2 Get 3 Free through tomorrow. Sticking to my guns and not buying them, though. I feel oddly “lonely” without the diet soda - like I’ve lost a friend. I miss it when I first wake up, when I wake in the middle of the night, and after I’ve been running errands (as a reward). Sigh. 😔

Breaking the link between food and reward is really hard. I struggled with it too. Good on you for sticking to your guns Debbie.

I feel your pain. I quit my Diet Pepsi cold turkey after drinking four a day. I’ve been drinking sparkling ice 5 cals, no fat no sugar.

Sugar is an addictive substance for many of us Debbie and when you indulge your brain craves more. It’s why i cannot have sweets or sugary foods in my house. Have you had your labs done? See where your a1c and cholesterol levels are at as well as essential vitamins and minerals?

Maybe try something different and healthy like hot or cold unsweetened decaffeinated tea or herbal tea. They make some wonderful kinds. Stick with it.

Woofwaggers, what size were your Diet Pepsi’s? I was drinking twelve 12-oz cans a day (144 ounces - more than a gallon). Good job on ditching it!!!
