Folks, I entered the diet/nutrition game in 2000. I was a gleaming 367+ lbs. I've tried everything including Medfast, Atkins, Weight Watchers,Jenny Craig, Nutrisystem and so on. I started a Keto based diet and I'm down to 192. I've been slacking lately and yet...no rebound. My energy level is steady if not high, my emotional level(considering I have depression issues) is much improved. I had blood work done and all of my levels are in the normal range. I workout daily(as I said I've been slacking). I use this site for exactly what you guys find arguable, a varied opinion. It gives me not only continuing education in the nutrition field, it gives me incentive to keep moving in the right direction. So, thank you Selma for the info feed and thank you to anybody with a difference of opinion, please keep sharing😘🙋

You like to put words in people's mouths, Phil. You know what I meant or maybe you didn't because of your lc bias. It shouldn't be taken serious in that there is no reason to fear carbs as these countries prove. Alnona, you found the diet that helped you be consistent with your deficit the same way I did(flexible dieting) and that is great. We started at around the same time.

Different strokes for different folks!

I love all the opinions I read. They're all eye openers. But ... (the proverbial but 🤪) everybody's body is different like everybody's opinion. If you want success you must learn your body and what it needs to survive healthily. Your primary care physician and Dietitian's are good "tools" to achieve this. One's diet is his taste preference and what works best for his body. So all information is extremely helpful. No need for arguments. 🤗 I'm thankful for all your input to mold my healthy lifestyle within my parameters. 💞💞💞

Diablo is right! Longest life expectancy and carb filled diet. ❤️🤸‍♀️

There are also cultures with the opposite: Masai from Kenya, Inuit. These folks eat no carbs. Maybe it's due to adaptation or an all natural, no processed food diet? Or cultures where people support each other and live a healthy/active lifestyle. Many factors, many diets. BTW the famous Mediterranean studies were done during Lent when people had given up sweets and alcohol.

In Africa there are poor health care systems and infectious diseases lower ratesof Cancer and Heart Disease. Health is more than diet.

Just want to include this tidbit since Africa often gets a bad rap....their diet isn't bad at all and is very delicious.

Maybe it comes down to a healthy calorie intake and more movement. Maybe that's it. Macro smacros. Eat nutritiously and get that heart pumping.

It’s all about the calorie deficit, types of food don’t matter for fat loss. People that don’t have self control with carbs avoid them. People that can learn to portion control do control. People that don’t have control when eating process foods avoid them. People that can’t control food when eating starve yourself, I mean fast.

How to lose weight? Easy, you just need a calorie deficit 😋

If I had to pick a diet other than portion control it would be the carnivore diet 😋🥩

Or maybe high carb diet 🤔
10 Aug 19 by member: rosio19
There is no fruit in carnivore, no watermelon, no berries, nothing.

You can eat all the fruits in high carb as long it fits your calories. :)

Yes moopie yes u are right, I can’t with a strict diet... I would cheat on my diet 😪

I eat keto meals, sometimes carnivore, sometimes lchf. I add fruits for snacks bc it’s yummy also fewer calories than a fat bomb. Eating what I enjoy and getting to goal, I hope for everyone on FS to find that balance too. 💕💕💕
