"Conclusion Our findings suggest that OTS is likely triggered by multiple factors, not restricted to excessive training, resulted from a chronic energy deprivation, leading to multiple losses in the conditioning processes typically observed in healthy athletes, as a combination of ‘paradoxical deconditioning’ processes, which explains the gradual and marked loss of physical conditioning found in OTS. We, therefore, suggest that the term ‘paradoxical deconditioning syndrome’ better represents the features of this syndrome."

A great reason to avoid large calorie deficits if you exercise and possibly one reason that in order to avoid this your hunger may spike. Most likely will only affect people who exercise A LOT since overtraining syndrome is pretty rare. Most people should have little to worry about.

BMI: Quite possibly one of the worst standards for self-measurement ever dreamt up by man. I still recall sitting in a doctor's office at 22 years old, 5'10" tall and 192 pounds wearing size 34 jeans and being told by the doctor that even though I had a six pack, could do pull ups and could do handstand pushups, that I was technically obese because I should be no bigger than 175 pounds. At ideal BMI, he said, I'd be about 165 pounds
I might be fat now, but I wasn't then. And I havne't been under 170 since age 16.

It's a pretty good method for most people since most people don't lift. If you're a good bit above it and don't lift, you're probably at risk for some health problems. You have any pics with a six pack at 192 and size 34 jeans? I don't even have a 6 pack in size 30 jeans at 188 pounds. You must have good genes as far as stomach fat goes. It's the very last thing to go for me.

Yeah, I'm really not too worried about that with as much as I eat LOL. One thing I can say, when I gas myself working out, I put fuel back in the tank.

I don't have any shirt-off, but I think Mom posted a picture of me on her Facebook from back then. I'd have to dig for it lol. I've never been much of a picture-taking guy. I was in the doctor's office to assess an injury from doing too many situps. That was more than a decade ago though, so I don't recall exactly what he said happnened other than I had managed to move a muscle away from where it was supposed to be lol.
